Good idea but would probably scare the horses!

Bloody hell. I just read 26 pages on my Saturday to catch up on all of this as I'd stayed away since April, and the ending (non-closure on this) is as unsatisfying as the end of The Sopranos.

The Sopranos ended perfectly.

Agree it looks like Gosch's...

Has anyone ever mentioned Caulfield Racecourse as a possibility? In our "heartland", half way between the 'G and Casey and stacks of land in the middle of the racecourse to build a carpark, elite facilities and an MCG sized oval.

Could serve as another base for MCC sides, and we know the Melbourne Racing Club is based there..."Team Melbourne" mark II?

I believe this idea was discussed back when Joseph Gutnick was president. Why it didn’t go ahead, I’ve no idea.

Maybe too realistic and practical? Better to hold out hope of being allowed to move back to the 'G...

It’s a public park isn’t it? Not that the racing people want you to know that.

Interesting. Trying to build stuff in public parks is our go!

The Yarra Park proposal was always going to be problematic, and a compromise particularly for Office and Admin space.

I don't understand why we have not been mentioned in association with the Caulfield racecourse development.....

More space, no limitations on use, community involvement, part of the Demons heartland....

And it could make ProDee doubly happy if his mob get up.

I posted this last November.....(Sadly for ProDee they didn't get up, but back to the point).......this surely would be a great solution given the lack of limitations for space at other locations, but MFC hasn't been mentioned in any articles about Caulfield.

Maybe this has gone nowhere given the state election result?

Hopefully we have at least spoken to the relevant stakeholders. I see that the racecourse itself is being redeveloped but not sure if that includes the public land in the middle.

I wonder why we never considered approaching a well located Junior Club with a proposal to house their facilities in a new purpose built complex with community facilities. Training time clashes would not be of any concern as long gone are the days of afternoon training We would not use the ground for matches so no problems there. it also puts us well on the way to being a community hub

They try to make it appear that you’re not able to freely come and go, but clearly you are.

I walk my dog there - it's awesome. Open from 9am to sunset every day (except on race days).

A massive area that is all an off lead area plus it has the lake for him to have a swim and to chase some ducks.

It’s awesome, I loved in Malvern for a few years and would always use it.

I loved in Malvern too ...... (sigh) ....

There's something about a mature, established suburb that you just don't find in newer, trendier urban developments.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
