which is a bonus as the crows will fumble as much as us - lol

Gotta play Preuss, just allows a complete rethink of our Forward "structure" and upsets their backs when Oliver/Jones/etc just bomb in junk

I'd wait,  until after Darwin.

Bring in Lever and Preuss,  the following week... if they are both fit and perform well.

Its time Preussy  'Starred'...  in the VFL,  instead of  'doing well'.

You make it sound like he cost us a pizza box.

What about coin? 600k? 700k?

What about the guy the pushed out?  The '+1' gig really in 2017 and 2018, was the easiest in football.  Watts would have smashed it, and provided plan b, c and d options.

You never know who didn't get the opportunity and security of a spot in the team either.  Not directly related but we had a guy playing for Casey 2nds that is playing for a team that is vying for top 6 this year.

He cost us sweet [censored] all. The guy he pushed out? off the list? back in 2017? I wont even bother looking to see who it was. It was a spud.

The guy who we would have drafted instead of him? With Pick 90? Good one.

We had Nathan Jones as the only leadership in the whole team and had a guy who had played in 4 flags who wanted to come to the club.

Watts? you bring up Watts? you think he could have played the plus 1 role? He played every [censored] position on the ground and he was a [censored] liability.

What a con job this import turned out to be.  A guy past his peak, and the best coach of the modern era knew it.  Clarko has turned Hawthorn around and sped them up without a rebuild, and meanwhile a slow team got massively slower.

Lewis was so slow from day 1.  In fact, he slowed drastically in his last 2 years at Hawthorn.  When you're slow you have no other choice but to drop to your knees in a contest or belt the guy in frustration.  How many reportable incidents?  How many undisciplined 50 metre penalties?  His comments about umpire abuse just last week was the antithesis of leadership.  On the field, when we needed him to stand up in some way, in our most important game in a decade, he failed miserably and was universally awarded BOG.

This has been a train-wreck.  The tragedy is though, that if you stripped emotion ("he wants to come to Melbourne....yay") and rhetoric (leadership) away, it was always a stinker of a move.  Problem was that the club and most of our fans over-dose on emotion and rhetoric.

As Cornes said, no other club was anywhere near offering this bloke a 2 year, let alone 3 year deal.  With decisions like this, no wonder 2019 has been what it has been.

Leadership?  My sphincter.

I called this from day 1.  I love being in the 2% around here.

The team we belted in the finals last year.... While I'd say all agree we gave him 1 year to many, we had to get a player of his ilk into the club. He's let himself down a number of times and if the team was fully fit he'd be struggling for a game. Otherwise your post is over the top and nothing but negative as usual and your ego is hilarious Mr 2% pppfffttt.

I had to laugh at the 2% comment. Is that like a soft, past it Hell's Angel?

It was particularly funny  given it presupposes TGR was actually correct in his position we should not have traded Lewis in. Which is plain wrong. He has been a terrific addition to the side. Which is 98% of people thought it was good move.

It absolutely has been a good move. As you say he would likely not be playing this season if we didn't have so many outs. That said it was instructive they elected to bring Spargo in instead of Lewis (who plays a very similar role to Salem) for Salem. Lewis then goes and clocks some fella in the VFL. Which is dead poor.

Apart from agreeing with TGR that that act was stoopid i also have to agree with his comments about Lewis on 360 saying Thomas should not have been cited for calling the ump a cheat. What bollocks. I couldn't believe it. He was all over the shop in his attempt to defend his position. No wonder because it was indefensible. If my son or daughter called an umpire a cheat i would be livid. Simply not on and crosses a line big time. Says a fair bit about where Lewis, a well known sniper, draws his lines.

I wouldn't be shocked if the club was similarly dismayed at his lack of leadership and that perhaps that was a factor in the decision to go with Spargo? If so his decision to get himself rubbed out wouldn't have done much to assuage the club's concerns.

I see you're not an advocate for diversity of opinion. There is no telling if TGR is correct in his assertion that Lewis shouldn't be drafted.  It's an opinion and one in hindsight that is easily defendable.  I give Lewis a bare pass but I can fully understand those blokes that think he should never have come to the club.  The fact that Lewis's addition to our list is so debatable actually shows that TGR, being in a small minority, had a lot more foresight than many given his addition was welcomed by most.

Cards I can't find the "worm" but it's a stretch to say we belted them.  My recollection is they were very close in the last quarter, perhaps a goal, and I was anxious (in an attempt to avoid the censor) that we'd lose. This was not belting.  A belting happened in the Preliminary a week later.

And we "had to get a player of his ilk into the club".  I'd like to see the justification of that!  In all the good that he may have done he's certainly demonstrated how to be an arrogant toool and look after your own best interests firsts.  I've seen nothing to suggest Lewis thinks the "team first" ethos at MFC is something he should follow.

Hodge was the player that would have been much more valuable.

Meh I don’t agree it’s been terrific, it’s been just ok for mine. He’s let himself and the team down badly at times and has really dropped off a cliff game wise. It was necessary but hasn’t gotten us over the hump and delivered the leadership to drive the young core to sustained success.

That's not the case BB but i see your point.

Perhaps I should have added 'in my opinion'  to my Which is plain wrong comment but in my defence it is a given that it is my opinion i would have thought. An opinion i would bet London to a brick Goody would agrees with given he picked him in his starting 22 all last year when he had other options

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
