2030, at the latest.  Love to know our future side in 12 years time.  I wonder if Nathan Jones will go around again?

I'm looking not right now but probably the half way point when we get Lever. If we want to be a premiership team we have to make changes our team is still too slow and not enough good ball users.

I've made the tough decision in retiring Jones and Lewis and we have the worst key position player in the comp in O.Mac and we have no small forwards..

B: JETTA, MAY, LEVER

HB: HIBBERD, PETTY, KOLODJASHNIJ

C : HUNT, SALEM, BAKER

HF: MELKSHAM, WEIDEMAN, HANNAN

F: J.SMITH, T.MCDONALD, CHANDLER

FOLL: GAWN, OLIVER, BRAYSHAW

IC: VINEY, JORDON, HARMES, FRITSCH

Kolodjashnij to take Salem's role, Salem into the midfield to add some much needed class.

Hunt and Baker to give us speed on the wings.

Chandler seems like our most gifted small forward unfortunately.

Jordon and Fritsch as our good ball users off the bench.

Thoughts?

Like it. Hope it materialises this season. Just need to blood replacements for Hibberd & Jetta down the track.

Why no Petracca ? Is one of our better ball users ! Just misses set shots fir goal.

How good  do you know that Chandler will become He definitely seems more skilled than other smaller forwards I agree but not unfortunately.

Looks good and  obviously some players need building up and devrloping size and strength.

Also need turnover of coaches under Goody st end of 2019.

Simply he is not a hard enough worker... and so misses 2/3rds of most games.

Chandler brings nippy play and evasiveness, plus his speed and run with the ball.  He stops us being as Vanilla, when with the ball.

I think our coaches are some of the best in League.  We don't need to knee jerk, because we are struggling so far in 2019.

Honestly, does this thread need to be updated every second week?

sure, i mean...why not? it's all a bit of fun on a messageboard....

i prefer to think of it in terms of list - who'll still be on it in 2023, at the start of the next tv rights deal?

likely still on the list:

  1. may (turns 31 in 2023)
  2. salem (28)
  3. harmes (28)
  4. petracca (27)
  5. viney (29)
  6. lever (27)
  7. spargo (24)
  8. brayshaw (27)
  9. gawn (31 on dec 31, 2022)
  10. oliver (26)
  11. hannan (29)
  12. preuss (28)
  13. hunt (27)
  14. fritsch (27)

uncertain (let's say half of them are still on the list at the start of 2023; i've highlighted a guess of a dozen still with us):

  1. bedford (23)
  2. hibberd (33)
  3. stretch (27)
  4. kolodjashnij (28)
  5. frost (30)
  6. melksham (32)
  7. vandenberg (31)
  8. jordon (23)
  9. kennedy harris (28)
  10. nietschke (23)
  11. o mac (27)
  12. neal-bullen (27)
  13. sparrow (23)
  14. baker (25)
  15. hore (27)
  16. petty (24)
  17. jetta (33)
  18. j wagner (29)
  19. j smith (27)
  20. chandler (23)
  21. c wagner (26)
  22. lockhart (23)
  23. walker (28)
  24. keilty (28)
  25. bradtke (23)

unlikely:

  1. jones (35)
  2. lewis (37)
  3. maynard (32)
  4. garlett (34)
  5. t smith (32)

so, here's round 1, 2023 (give or take end of trade / draft period of the next four years, natch, player fitness, etc., etc.)...

B: Jetta - May - Lever
HB: Salem - Petty - Fritsch
? Harmes - Brayshaw - Hannan
HF: Petracca - T Mac - Hunt
F: Preuss - Weideman - Melksham
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
I/c: Spargo - Sparrow - Lockhart - J Smith
Emerg: Frost - Hore - C Wagner - Bradtke

tbh, it's not wildly different from now - the 14 or so who should, hopefully, still be with us are core players of our team now, with virtually four full seasons ahead of them

of course, some of them may choose to retire after winning four premierships in a row from 2019-2022 inclusive.........

Don’t think Sparrow is uncertain. He will almost certainly be a gun in a couple of years time.

But who will be the coach in 2023??

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
