As the off-season comes to a close I wanted to say thankyou to all who have been active on Demonland in the off season. As always, it's been informative, entertaining and sometimes maddening. And it's been a decent time-waster, too.

Particular thanks to all those who posted training reports which helped us appreciate the work being done as we head into what we all hope will be a successful 2019. Similarly, thanks to the site administrators and moderators who keep this wonderful form of social media going.

Go Dees.

Also a shout out to Jack Watts and Jesse Hogan. Who once again demonstrated to the AFL that it doesn't need to manufacture off-season interest through one-month trade weeks and grand final time-slot speculation when it has twenty-something year-old blokes as its prime commodity.

Fremantle and Port Adelaide, pffft, those clubs are out of control.

Well said @La Dee-vina Comedia

What is an acolyte? Some kind of half dosed beverage?

This preseason seemed to last forever it only took me a couple of weeks to get over the West Coast debacle, before I just wanted us to rip-tear into the new season.  As you say @La Dee-vina Comedia the banter from fellow supporters did help it pass with some fun and I typically enjoy your querky, humorous interludes on the conversation (as well as the ocasional serious footy comment ? ), so thanks to you too as well as all the other fellow contributors.

It's funny you know making finals again last year seemed such an achievement and relief, that now we have been there done that again, I'm much less concerned about just making finals this year.  Now that we've been there done that, with the side we have got, I am expecting finals will just happen (which it won't 'just happen' I know) and that in it's self will not be such an achievement.  What I'm really looking forward to building a ladder position, form, solid system and beleif that sets us up in a genuine position to go all the way to winning the flag - i.e. what we've always lacked in my years following the red and blue.

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!!

You’re just like my boss Trac - taking all the credit for my good work

Honestly Demonland has a good thing going. I read for more than I post, but can honestly say the mods and contributors to this site do a wonderful job creating this online community. Generally I wish I had more to contribute, and was able to connect with more of you, but I enjoy being relatively passive reading what you all have to contribute.

If you can spare a few dollars another way to say thanks to Andy and Co. is to make a donation. They do a great job in running and maintaining the site for us to read and contribute to and I imagine it’s not free to do so. I’ve thrown $20 into the kitty to say thanks and also to apologise for embarrassing family members, @Demonland knows what I’m talking about. Cheers.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
