There is an Open Session listed for Thursday.

Upcoming Men's Training Sessions

Date: Thursday, 28 February
Session start time: 10.00am
Location: Gosch's Paddock, Olympic Bvd, Melbourne

@Satyriconhome was there a "craft work" session this morning?

Warning: I'm going to training today with @Bitter but optimistic

I'm very fearful of what outrageous get up he'll be sporting.

Won't be difficult for trackwatchers to spot him.

More later.

My egg and bacon sandwich is delicious
The coffee is not too bad either

Going to be a warm and windy session, and that's just me

On days of extreme heat and wind, don't know why you would not bring forward training to an earlier time, such as 8.00 and be finished by 10.00.

If I was planning to run or ride my bike this morning I would be out early.

Just heard Tmac will play on Sunday in Shep. Boys just started doing some run throughs.

The wind is strong but quite fresh still.

KK and Hannan running/walking laps

Tmac reckons he'll play vs Tigers, I asked him

Oscar Baker took Max down in match sim tackle. Gave him a bit of lip too. Good on him

Caught up with BBO. What a disgrace. Took 10 mins to get away from him...

Tim Smith getting his lower right leg looked at.

Match sim quite impressive given the strong breeze. Max took a towering mark 25 out. Tmac running quite freely, no strapping on knees

Hope these were supplied by the MFC as official AFL sanctioned gear.

Didn't realise KK was still so hampered by his injury. Looks unlikely for round 1. Saty or Moony can you try and whisper in his ear or whatever and find out when he thinks he'll be playing.

Thanks for the reports. Getting down to the pointy end now.

Thanks moon.

Who out of the following were in match sim; Viney, Oliver, Jones, Melksham, May?

I thought it was common knowledge that KK would struggle to make Round 1. I think we might even see Lever before KK.

All, I think. Hard to spot everyone when they have caps on and some with white vests

All of them were that I saw.

KK said that he pulled up a bit tight last week. So they’ll back it off for a week or two then build him back up. Didn’t say exactly when as he probably doesn’t know himself. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much progress he makes in the next few weeks.

Tell you what, Kade Chandler has a beautiful left foot. He was doing a skills sess on the side with Bradke and Bedford. Nailed it every time

Were the other rookies (James Jordon and Tom Sparrow) taking part in the match simulation?

I think so Andy. Jordan has a very good size about him in terms of build.

Saw Milkshake take a couple of ripping contested marks in the sim. After one of them he turned and speared a 50m pass inwards to Weid (I think). A thing of beauty

Chandler might be small, but he can fly! Climbed over Bedford to take a terrific mark

Got to say, nearly everything JKH had done had been very good.

I agree Moon. I reckon he’ll have a breakout year. He played some good games toward the end of last year and he was just about our best in the practice match last week. He looked the goods today.

I really like the little I have seen and heard of Chandler.  We seem to be drafting players that have had to work bloody hard to get a chance (AVB, Frisch, Sparrow), and with pretty good results.  Chandler seems to also fit that bill.

Keen to see him in a game situation because from what I've seen of him at training he's energetic and has clean skills. That's a nice combination.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
