If we were to draft Matt McGannon with one of our late draft picks, i'd just about blow an O-ring!!!!!

This has nothing to do with the fact that you both come from Fish ? Creek?

I remember his name came up at this stage last year and the family are legends of the Fish Creek football world.

Good luck to him!

Wow. Hardly compelling. Random players here.

Yes Bedford of course.

Sturt of course.

Xavier O’halloran- agreed

Curtis Taylor and Ed McHenry will struggle at the next level. Taylor is smart but no real strength.  McHenry has good endurance but light frame will get destroyed at AFL level.  Ian Hill will go by pick 15-16.

Forgot to mention Tom McKenzie.

Jacob Kennerley keeps being mentioned. Classic wingman.

Agree with Fraser Turner and Ayton-Delaney. Both have real pace and footy ability.

Zac Foot and Will Hamill are a Yes vote.

Oscar Chapman and McGannon are not likely to be drafted. McGannon was an over aged player who had a good year but not draft worthy. McGannon should link up with Casey Demons imo.  Brayden Ham should be a rookie chance.

Liked the look of him last year, good to see he had a strong 19 year old season. His class shines through his highlights, draft him, work out if he has the physical tools or grunt later.

How is McHenry slight frame any different to Spargo, Jack Higgin, Ben Ronke or even a Caleb Daniel?

Rubbish to write him off so early. He is a very driven individual who'll succeed well once he's in an AFL environment.

In fact if theres one big positive he has with him its his gut running ability to get up and down the ground.

Plus his manic tackling pressure that clubs just crave.

McHenry is not small just lightweight.  Needs at least 2 years protein powder and weights. Aerobic strength definitely.  Might be being harsh but it’s my opinion.  I think Bedford under the nga selection will meet our small forward development needs.

I'm not sure which Ned Mchenry you are looking at but the guy is senior ready. And his game style is probably a surer thing to translate to AFL to anyone. I'd love to get him.

Read somewhere Ned McHenry has been invited to the draft so must be going in the first round?

His frame is already bigger then Spargo and Higgins were this time last year.

As Dr D said, he is senior ready.

A good read ahead of the draft at the end of the week.

AFL Draft Central: Melbourne Preview

Very generalist and seemingly uninformed article. Still, it provokes dreams with reality containment, to some extent.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
