Farewell Jesse Hogan

I find this really unprofessional from an 'assistant coach' to make this statement, if true of course.

It might be distasteful...but some things are said off the record . They can be blunt...and seemingly fly in the face of 'official statements' .

A reason I seldom take much notice of officialdom is because it is a construct.

Officially... it's a recent course of direction that Jesse leaves the club. There was plenty of discussion away from the public eye and certain circles knew not only of his imminent move but that this was likely as of about 6-7 months back. As indeed was his near departure at eos2O17 .

There are still elements that may never break the surface, but they are there.

Some comments made to me by people of the club , people who know the club and other contributors certainly paint interesting stories  , not just of Jesse. Am I surprised ? No, because clubs are made up of characters that suffer the human condition. Stuff happens. Much of it irrelevant to the play of the day.

Also...as people,  club officials may not always share the same opinions.

All in all...I'm not all that surprised. There's very few Saints in the province of Demons.

Anyhow.... he's someone else's job to deal with. Not ours.

From a reliable source . . .

Direct confirmation from an assistant coach about Hogan: “we’re glad he's gone - very hard to deal with”.

It's easy come up with crap like this when you don't name the source or the coach and some people just believe anything that may be said to them it is called gullibility.

I fail to understand why you'd think that. It's as though an assistant coach is not allowed to have an opinion, or, even worse, such an observation must not be made public. It's as plain as day that the Melbourne brains thrust had no qualms about his imminent departure so there must have been issues. If there weren't the 'issues' rumours would not keep bubbling to the surface.

His dummy spits when umpires failed to reward him surely must have been one of the issues, an issue which Jesse seemed incapable of addressing.

Or, maybe it was his 'Kicking 'Coach who despaired Jesse would ever lose that convoluted inclination to hold the ball as if he was going to kick it with his left foot...

It goes against the ethos the club is currently and successfully developing.

"We're glad he's gone" are pretty strong words.

Then of course there is stuff which is quite factual...but some choose to observe the confidence of the person concerned, or simply the name of the source.

It's up to you what YOU actually believe.

I was at that game in Box Hill: he kicked 5 of them in the first half, he kicked some from a long way out, and he was marking everything that came his way. I also know someone who has known and followed Sam from his junior days and he has told me we ain't seen nothing yet. He is also full of praise for Sam as a human being. This guy is not a Demon supporter either...

The upside for weed is huge. He is still growing and another two off seasons and he will be formidable.

Strong, heavy but athletic and takes the ball high.

His ruck work improved out of sight last season, which speaks volumes in terms of a player willing to do the work to improve.

Love his kicking action too. Smooth.

Well I would not believe anything from an anonymous poster on an internet site quoting an anonymous source, information supplied by an anonymous coach, but if fools wish to believe then go for it.

I can see you would believe anything

I'd just like to point out... irrespective of what you know; you have no idea who I am, who I might know, indeed what I might know.

What I choose to believe is my decision, as is yours whatever you choose. Invariably what I believe has some foundation and corroboration. That said I'm quite able to acknowledge that someone else might know something also, something different. I can accept the possibility without subscribing.

What you believe  I can't comment on nor care.

It might be the only thing we agree upon us a desire to see the Dees prosper.

Cheers

Might have been 'very hard to deal with... the speculation that came with his contract renewal every season or so'.

Also, in regards to who replaces the goals kicked by Hogan, yes, Weideman, Melksham etc, but the guy who many are overlooking is one, Christian Petracca.

He had a pretty consistent season and matched De Goey's stats without having a breakout game, yet journalists are frothing over De Goey. Petracca is the one for us. If he kicks into gear next season, which feels likely, we're going to be incredibly difficult to beat, providing our midfield can maintain its consistency.

I didn't believe you - but you are right...

I wonder how many of those gimme's goals he sprayed,  even if 75% were converted would have topped up his goal tally for the year...

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
