Just taken the $41 for the Norm Smith.

To to my mind that’s much better value than the current $10 to win the flag. For us to win it, it would demand a big game from Max, so it’s almost the same bet with four times the payoff.

Also, he’s that dominant he could win the medal in a losing side; even better value.

If the stars align, it could be a huge week for Maxy:

Brownlow Medal;

Playing 100 AFL games;

Demons Premership;

Norm Smith.

Should get pretty good odds on all that I recon.

A fantastic result for Max and Clarry too.  Geez Cripps is a hell of a player.  To poll 91 votes in a team that won just two games for the season and got hammered in most of them is a brilliant performance.  I'll be really interested to see how he polls in the Brownlow.  Great effort from Gus too.  Interesting to see Heppell poll so well from the coaches but not get a look in for AA.

I dare say Max has probably had one of the best year of his career considering where he was 5 years ago (injury issues, being 2nd fiddle to Jamar & Martin) it's a massive improvement. Good Luck to him.

When he had his first AA year I think a few of us Dees fans were cautious, we’d seen Jamar go AA and then not really come close to those abilities again. I was confident of him coming back after his injuries last year well but I honestly didn’t expect him to be as good as he’s been this year. He’s gone to another level and he could be looked back on in the future as a “great” Rick man of our game.

Love ya Maxy!!!

Up there with Ricky pettard

If Maxy keeps playing as well as he has, perhaps he will redefine the role to the point that it will be defined as the Gawnman position... perhaps a tag reserved for players of sublime tapwork, marking, athleticism and comedic skills.

It’s super special that he’s doing all this in the famous number 11 as well. When I see him wearing it, I always think of Jimmy presenting Max with his jumper and this photo, I think after Jimmy’s passing.

Love the respect that Maxy has for big Jimmy.  Though some of his contribution to some of the administrative decisions within the club during his time at the helm lost him some respect, Jimmy's passion and drive for the club to improve and be successful and his ability to impress upon others to be the best that they can are surely his lasting legacy and no better exemplified than through Max.

I love that like Jimmy, Max has fought his own adversity and despite his often aparent confidence in his own ability and extraverted personality, he still comes across as being so down to earth and a great human being.  Maxy is the sort of guy that great footy clubs are made of.

I'm not sure if it was the jumper but he was looking like that NAB kid version of himself on the weekend. Has he lost even more weight over the season, at the same time as extending his beard?

Listed to Maxy on RSN this morning on their Inner sanctum segment (great interview btw - long - and well worth a lsiten).

Maxy was asked about the reason for the jumper and someone said how good it looked. He explained it was for the 160 year anniversary and yes it looked great. But his was too big. As was weeds - who Maxy said (jokingly) was spewing because he has worked hard in the gym and looked tiny in the jumper.

By the by the RSN breakfast show is much better than SEN's i reckon. Relaxed, more low key and actually usually very informative.

Max, Weids and Petracca all had pretty decent games v GWS. Maybe we've cracked the latest revolution in footy attire?

Out skin-tight guernseys, in pajamas.

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
