To me he is showing more composure and smarts than I have seen in him previously

    OTC Goodwin said Frost had acknowledged what he had needed to do to get back in the game. Must have been something, Goodwin doesn't seem to play favourites, I think he's actually quite honest with the players about what they need to do, and I don't think he'd fib about something like that, as it could bite him in the derriere in terms of trust with his players.

    @CBDees I thought the same thing, we seem to do much better than Carlton with Giants rejects, the John West of player recycling, thank you Mr Taylor.

    Agree. So much confidence, strength and dash on Sunday, and his disposal, general awareness and use of options massively improved. 

    Bring on Hawkins.  

     

    PS Oscar’s awareness and disposal also much improved.  I think working as a defensive unit with confidence in one another is working wonders.   Where does Lever fit in? Nice dilemma for the match committee.

    I love how Frost was able to throw the boot on his ball knowing there were forwards forward of the ball in the forward line to kick it to.

    I respect your opinion, the improvement is there R G However he has been back in the side since round 16 and played 8 straight games and the team has improved as well. Played 66 games now and more experience than some given the nod in front of him. I am not disagreeing with you. I think we are on the same page. Read his Player Bio on the Melbourne web site if you have time. That explains it a little.

    We are not far apart on opinions and I do enjoy the opinions here, though many I don’t respect ? (that is not a personal dig), personally, I think Frost is a much better player this year, I had him a long way behind Oscar before the season started, now I see the nucleus of a potentially fantastic defence with the pair of them, Lever to come in and our very, very good smaller size defenders.

    Hopefully Hunt can see Frosts successes, and adapt as well; because they were both carrying the ball like headless chooks.

    Frosty has learned to get ontop of his lapses of composure.  So far so good.

    TMac raved about Frosty years ago and I always believed he’d arrive.  He’s done proud to appear to be our best KPD now.

    Never really understood the point of these threads. 

    Frost has killed us at times in the past with his erratic style of play so I'll never be sorry about being voicing my frustration at some of his shocking games.

    But I will admit that I didn't think he'd be able to come back into the side at this time of the year and contribute more positively than negatively to the side. I like him much better when he makes simple decisions and gives off early.

    Finals is a new ball-game for players like Frost who don't possess a lot of composure of smarts. I can only hope his form continues and he plays a starring role against Hawkins on Friday week.

    Well done to date though, Sam.

    I must say i never had great confidence frost would morph into a great player, but i did have lot of hope. His stature, athleticism and speed were always impressive and a good foundation. He was/is very similar to a young stef martin or alex rance with that bit of unco and dodgy decision making. If he continues to develop as they did we will have a weapon. my hope is morphing into confidence.

    Another fine performance by Frosty! Just a rock in defense and I've noticed his starting to take intercept msrks down back which i havent seen from him before.

    Does he get Roughead??

Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

      I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

      The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
