I feel for ANB a bit.  Clearly he is getting everything out of his abilities, but too often he misses an easy shot, or takes a wrong option and it really lets him down.  If he can clean that up, and I think he can do it, then he could be a really handy player in our side.  As it stands he lets himself down too often, but you are right to argue that he is certainly not weak.

I am throwing stuff when he misses, I reckon he would be dark as well, if he kicked straight he'd be a 500k a year player. The few games he kicked straight he looked silk.

With respect, mate, that is a very, very long bow.

Might well be, scoring hasn’t been our issue though. He’s definitely added something tonight with his pressure.

Something to spend time on in the off season then

Trac’s goal kicking is a disgrace.

He has had a great game, but his goal kicking keeps letting him down.

Another from AFL site:

Christian Petracca has won 18 contested possessions for the game, an equal career-high.

6 tackles too. Just needed to finish off in front of goal, but he's not alone tonight

Am I being to scroogeish to start complaining about kicking accuracy? Let me know when is acceptable

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
