Yes I would try him inside, in place of Tyson.  Just to see what he looks like there,,,  against one of the lower sides.  end of year we make some big decisions and we need to look at our fringe players. now is the time to check them.

I am astonished by some of the bollocks posted in this thread

It was a great contested game, we gave as good as we got if not better

We lost in my opinion and in no particular order because

1. injuries at critical times

2. A couple of dubious umpiring decisions

3. Not lowering our eyes going into the fifty

4. Maybe not having an extra tall in defence

Goodwin was pleased with the effort, we need to replicate it and get back to lowering our eyes when kicking into the 50 like I see at training every week, we have experienced pressure, learn from it

 

Out; Mitch Hannan, Alex Neal-Bullen, Christian Salem (all three not enough game involvement), Neville Jetta (rest, been hit hard a couple of times this year) and Tom Mcdonald (rest).
In; Sam Wiedeman, Harry Petty, Dion Johnstone, Sam Frost and Oscar Baker.
In a game against St.kilda we could blood some new players and shake up the team till we establish the best 22 and later create the cohesion needed for the finals (hopefully). The next week give Harley Balic, Jay Kennedy-Harris and Dean Kent a run.

So many changes which I know will not happen. Would love to see new players and show our depth instead of talking about it. We may need them if we get hit with injuries and giving them a run will prepare them if  they get called up for more challenging games.

Yes, I'd imagine if he had a role it was given to him by Goodwin or by the other coaches. Thanks for that, very helpful.

But I was wondering what it (the role) was as I don't know and therefore can't judge his game performance.

Disingenuous ring a bell here, you are supposedly one of the self appointed experts on here so you should be able to dissect what role Tyson had, as he was involved in the midfield assume he was given a midfield role.

Considering that Goodwin was impressed with the whole team performance on contested ball etc and only had an issue with the team bombing it in, for which all players were guilty, assume Tyson did his role

Whilst Tim Smith and Pederson might probably give you a bit more consistency I think Weid has the most potential and I've liked his attack on the contest in the air and on the ground when he's been in. The role that those three play is really clear as a lead up tall who can help in the ruck. They're pretty much in to contest in the air and tackle and attack each contest. I think Tim Smith has shown this at AFL level, but I don't know if its just me but he seems to get injured or battered almost every game he plays. Wonder if he's not approaching contests protecting himself well enough....

Depending on which bounce or ball up situation arose Tyson may be a blocker, the receiver of the tap from Gawn, the outside receiver etc, meant to be the conduit between the backs and the forward, kick a goal or two if possible, tackle anything in an opposition shirt, rotate through the wing and half forward if required  and look good on camera for the post game interview

Seven goals in the VFL has to be rewarded, he has clean hands and it’s only a matter of time until everything comes together at senior level. Before he was injured he was also getting involved around the ground a bit more and showing some good signs. 

I don't recall Tyson contesting a centre bounce (happy to stand corrected) and it appeared he was covering the defensive side of around ground stoppages - most notable when he gave away the holding free against Wines and was caught out on the fast break and couldn't catch up. 

In any case, by starting on the wing and setting up defensively at stoppages, Goodwin clearly has him playing a different role now.

Furthermore, this whole notion of exemplary behaviours espoused by Goodwin will prove incongruous when selections are announced later this week IMO
