Balic had a bright start to the season and while he has played okay for the last few weeks his game seems to have plateaued. He needs to move it up a notch to give himself real chance.

Looking forward to dominant second half of the season from him.

These umpires are making rubbish push in the back calls. No way that was a free to Balic.

I like the look of Petty. Baker has a crack, as does Balic.

Tyson, Frost and Bugg wont be returning anytime soon.

They are really missing the presence of Garlett and Tim.Smith. Weideman doing nothing.

Surely the absence of both Stretch and Garlett means that one of them, presumably Jeffy, is playing on Monday instead of Hannan?

2 last quarter goals from Balic papers over the cracks that he's had a stinker today.

Also just the 13 possessions for Hunt. His career really treading water right now

Gee, Rawlings is impressive- wouldn’t mind betting he gets a senior gig one day. Great to see Casey play the same high pressure contested footy as our firsts. Everyone is singing from the same songbook at last.

Yeah Chook. Been thinking the same thing over the last 6 weeks. It's starting to click into place

Hannan has a fitness test on Sunday IIRC

PS... sorry as Beetle points out below it's Melksham

Melksham has to pass a fitness test for his ankle, hence stretch not playing.

If Weed had a bad first half, this last quarter he's been the opposite.

Balic was signed to a one year contract.

For those who’ve seen him at VFL level this year, do we extend?

Watched about 50%. Answer is yes for me.

Not for mine. He's one of those Viv Michie/Ben Newton/Shane Valenti type of players who will display quite a few tricks at VFL level but inevitably won't bridge that gap to AFL standard

Yes good depth for us.

Weid could have had a few. Had two lace out passes that he was cut in front of by JKH and Balic. Quiet first half but worked his way into the game nicely.

Was Hunt tagged? Just really felt he couldn’t get into the game at all.

And on the balic debate. He’ll be extended. Looks too good to just let him leave.

Baker, Petty, Spargo and Fritsch...  Jason Taylor has cleaned up at the draft once again.

Tyson played like he really wants back in the senior team.

Casey will win the flag.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
