Can you please edit your post to read $550k. I've heard it from a very unreliable source Gaff is an avid DL reader and we don't want him getting over inflated ideas.

As you all know, he's definitely worth $2M per annum.

What what what?

Ha! Ha! I see what you did there even if I don't know how. I see it but I don't believe it.

Andrew when you read this I just want you to know I didn't write that. You are only worth $500 and be grateful for playing for the team you grew up worshipping like all of us but we don't get the honour of playing for it like you will. Sooo lucky.

Thank God for that. I was worried you were going to quote some unreliable source like a friend of a friend's friend or someone who knows someone who knows a family member.

This going to the team you followed is not a trend in the AFL, just ask Juddy, Buddy and Prestia.

I swear there's a bunch of recruiting assassins on here.

How often does a player of his calibre remain unsigned this late into the season?

Very good chance that hes already committed to us.

It would be nice to be considered (the MFC) as the destination team of choice for players of a particular calibre.

Geez I hate the expression ‘cooked’ when it’s applied to footballers.

There’s something not quite right about it.

Whilst I’d like to see Gaff in the red and the blue, I don’t see why doesn’t Goodwin throw Jayden Hunt on a wing if he’s not liking him in defence. He definitely has outside run. In spades.

Fully agree on Jayden Hunt - maybe he can develop some more skills for this role in the next few weeks/months. He does need to be able to apply his speed with a change of direction. In a straight line, he's very fast. A capacity to weave reliably, to blind turn or to combine 'eyes up' scanning to teammates with that speed would be phenomenally potent.Could be the next Stan Alves if that was the case and located on the wing with 2-way running from HBF to HFF or spots in-between. He already has Alves' kicking aptitudes and grunt speed.

Poor disposal, only runs in straight lines and often gets caught for running too far. He can fix 2 and 3 but I don't think his disposal will ever be as good as Gaffs.

Trade Tyson stay away from Hannebery.

Anyone would think he's on drugs or something!

Hannebury has been a topliner.

didn't Murphy commit to the blues?

ooh, disagree Werri.

Why do you say that?   I'd prefer Hannebury,,, unless you know something I don't?

22 hours ago, WERRIDEE said:

Inside, slow and injury prone. Hannebery is someone we don't need we need outside run and carry like Gaff not Hannebery he is cooked.

So, if we trade out Tyson, and Oli were to get hurt, we need inside ability.

We shouldn't maintain the list that skinny,,, that we have no cover.

I think Hannebury can be very handy,,, and with Tyson on the outer, and Jones running on fumes. We would lack class inside, in those circumstances.

And we aren't as strong inside, as we like to think we are.  We're strong, but not the strongest.  We are amongst the other good inside mid-fields.

Yes.... we need outside run, but we need speeeed, more than any other run.

If we can guarantee we win the clearances,,, and get the ball out to our quick's, we will win way more than lose.  We do not want to pay too much Lira to any one player.    Unless a DShiel or JKelly bobs up.

So, if we trade out Tyson, and Oli were to get hurt, we need inside ability.

Why would we want Clarry to be injured for.

Main players: Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, Jones, Harmes, Petracca, Neal-Bullen, Fritsch, Stretch

Fringe: Tyson, Maynard, Vandenberg, Baker, Bugg, Hannan, Kennedy Harris

We have enough players to cover for injury.

If we don't have injuries Tyson and\or Hannebery play in the reserves, what a waste.

Don't forget according to Carey we should have Walsh as well.

inside mids, in-unders... Oliver, Viney, Jones, Harmes,,,,,, Brayshaw, Petracca, Neal-Bullen,

I would say of these boys, the first 4 are the real coalface players, and the others are opportunistic insiders.

I think I see where your viewing things from.... we differ on what we call inside players (in-unders)..... I think, we only have 4 of what I would call in-unders in our B-22.

The others I would term, as just inside mids.

Now...  no-one wants injuries, but they do happen.  And we need cover.  and we need to get more talented.

Hannebury is a yes for me; unless he's murdered an underworld figure in the past 6 months.

Just admit you were wrong I won't think any less of you.

No opinion is right or wrong, it is an opinion

Not sure which bit you don't get

You only have to read the game day and post match to see differing opinions on the same player

It is only a certain type of person that requires validation that their opinion is the correct one and others are wrong

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
