Help Please - Best seating at Etihad and the G

This is probably not really on topic, but I couldn't find a better sub thread to post in.

As a birthday treat for me, my mum is taking a bunch of the family up to Melbourne from Tassie on the 2nd of June to watch some footy. We'll be going to Etihad for the Dees vs Doggies game and then the Dream Time at the G game.

Some of us are members (but of different clubs) and to my amazement my wife has agreed to come and watch some "sportsball". My question is when it comes to buying tickets (and I believe they go on sale Monday) where are the best seats to be located if you aren't in the members?

Cheers!

I am an AFL member. For the MCG I like the third level in the Southern Stand.

It's open so if it rains there is a problem but viewing wise it is great. The second level is under cover but I like the openness of the third level. Even the first half of level 4 is pretty good.

Do you know anyone who is an AFL member. They can buy a large number of guest tickets and the member does not need to accompany you. Whether they can do it for the dreamtime game is hard to say. That is one of the marquee games at the 'G.  Essendon also have one of the highest numbers of pre reserved seatholders of the Melbourne clubs assuming it's an Essendon home game.

Etihad it is of course level 2 or the absolute front of level 3. Level 2 is hard to get as it is Medallion club mainly.

The real trouble you will face is that the tickets are released in blocks and in simple terms they sell fence to back in one section before they release the next section.

Good luck ...sounds like great fun

For a family from Tasmania, Biffen is probabl6 best suited to give advice on seats

Level 4 is fine and the MCG is so perfect that no matter where you sit be it the very front row on level 1 or the last row on level 4, you can see the whole ground. But one thing I've noticed on level 4 is that the atmospheric tension and noise just isn't the same as level 1, and the game's aesthetic loses physicality. Obviously this is due to sitting further away but I personally wouldn't recommend level 4 if seats are available on the lower levels.

Level 2 on either wing has the best view imo. But for atmosphere and experience, I like to sit on level 1, wing, on the last row undercover. That way I'm covered if it rains, and I'm close enough to the action and noise.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
