That’s definently a rip-off. Ugh, why would we want to rip off a soccer logo. Yuck

I'm starting to think Cassie has a problem with soccer.

Not even close. @praha should have been put on staff at the club for this effort.

Cale Morton as the body model?

What else was squeezed on there?

The quarter-by-quarter scores from all 12 premierships, pictures of the 10 greatest MFC marks and goals, and the names of every player who played more than 100 games for the club, along with their signatures. Usual logo stuff.

I think the DNA of all premiership captains was also encoded onto it.

Thought it might have been something like this

Never said it had to be Cassy, all i said is that it is my favourite.

Nor did I suggest you did. Like I said previously, I think it’s GREAT they’ve bought him back. I grew up with him. I would just like to see a return of the 1989 one on some merchandise. Those headbands in the 90’s very pretty groovy.

No!

As a kid I loved what I think of as the 'hair on fire' version. Not so much now.

I can see our current one but with a demon instead of the monogram. That way it has the best of both worlds, with the demon, and also the word 'Melbourne' being in there.

It's a wonderful hybrid of Cale, Old Dee and our traditional mascot @faultydet

How it hasn't been adopted yet is beyond me. Perhaps we should add the club name in Comics Sans font?

The logo should be perched upon a very expensive desk if that addition were to be made. Or at least have a whiteboard as it's  background.

I thought it looked too much like Batman. I’d hate to see him make a return.

Can't un-see that now!

I wouldn't want that demon now either. Something more like the 80s one but in contrasting colours, sort of silhouetted where the monogram is now.

This goes off topic a bit, but I wouldn't mind seeing retro heroes being put on tee-shirt lines. The gawn and Jones nerd tees were a hot commodity last season. Would love a flower, stynes, barassi and Lyon tee to be created.

That would be awesome. I like how the 90’s “cheeky demon” made a reappearance. I just think the 1989 logo has been forgotten when in my opinion, it was one of the best non demon emblems we had.

Wouldnt I’d be great if (and a possible money spinner for the club) if they rereleased some of the old logos? Maybe once a year the fans vote for the logo on some club merch then deposit $/pre-purchase some gear?

I’d buy some of it again, would be great to see some of the older stuff back out again rather than just the new dangled stuff.

Exactly. I think it’s time for the 1989 to make a reappearance.

Had to throw these two strapping demons in the mix.

Although I dont wear PJ’s anymore, I’d love to see a return of the old demon pyjamas. They were awesome. maybe also some more kid themed stuff.

I’d love to see some women’s singlets and sleeveless tops to wear when going out. Imagine the guys I’d come snare with one of those!

those patches posted by dedokter - but especially the first one - both get my vote as, like our current logo, they're only red and blue

no white in our emblem thanks

our current logo is my favourite of all of ours tho

pure class:

The logo above would have been an exercise in trying to find the balance between the perceived desires of a client and not wanting to be judged on the horrific end result.

The bane of any graphic designer.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
