Watched Chargers game in TAC Prelim

Joe Ayton-Delaney stoodout for pace, composure and skill.  Medium half back. May be a 30-40 selection.

Read up and he has mixed up school footy at Xavier and TAC cup. He looked definitely AFL capable.

Think he would a good pickup.

Tyler Roos. 35 possessions in a best on ground performance in NEAFL Grand Final.

Worthy of a potential rookie spot in my opinion.

Would be a great story.

Would be romantic, wouldn't it?

Given the circumstances, Taylor would know exactly what he is like

Also, he's not a F/S selection anymore.

True, and the fact he has a hyphenated name will hold him in good stead in front of the members at the MCC.

Still think in the late 20s the best option is a youngster like Tom McKenzie, Mitch Riordan & Hugo Munn.

probably Valente, Duursma & O’Halloran will be gone by 29-32

Tom McKenzie (Northern Knights)  Get him in.

25/30 in goal kicking at combine and finished first at a 2.9 seconds in sprint

Has the football skills and speed. I still think demons in with a chance to grab him if we keep the late 2nd round pick around 36-38.

Duursma won't go that high. In the 10-20 range methinks.

who else is around that mark that has pace? not many options.. i think we may take him should we go the draft that high. we sure as hell won't get the sa boys, or concern ourselves with the kings.

As of today, we have about 5 picks.

That is 36,46,54,62,65.

No need to worry about top 20 draft potentials

What kids should we pick up with those picks? Bradford must be one. Do we have to go through a points system like the rest?

After Twomeys AFL top 30 update from today, there are 3 kids that come into contention for our pick 36.

Sydney Stack. WA under 18s.  Shaun Burgoyne like player. Pace and skills. Glides over the ground. Surprised that he has not been rated top 25.  Perfect wing/half back.

Tom McKenzie. Northern under 18s. Really hope MFC gets this kid. Midfielder with all requirements. Perfect player to add to our midfield.  Pace and good skills on either side. Competitor. Won the 20 metre sprint at afl combine.

Jack Bytel. Calder under 18s. Cannot believe that Twomey does not rate him top 30. Absolutely gun midfielder.  Strength and skill. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes top 20. Injured twice this year which probably has seen his rating drop. Would be a draft steal at 36. Leadership potential.

Obviously one or two from the top 30 may drop as well but it’s a very strong draft year.

The link to Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: October

Although we currently have 36, 46, 54, 62 & 65, it isn’t safe to assume that those will be our final draft selections. If the Hogan deal goes ahead we might still finish with some extra selections and Josh Mahoney might do a trade of draft picks that could see things change as well.

Good get ... and, based on my early prediction on this thread (January 30) and my previous record with Charlie Spargo, he’s going to be my player of interest.

Here’s the flashback to my top 10:-

1. Izak Rankine – West Adelaide (SA)
2. Jack Lukosius - Woodville West-Torrens (SA)
3. Max King – Sandringham Dragons
4. Connor Rozee – North Adelaide (SA)
5. Ben King – Sandrin gham Dragons
6. Sam Walsh – Geelong Falcons
7. Ian Hill – Perth (WA)
8. Jye Caldwell – Bendigo Pioneers
9. Jack Bytel – Calder Canno ns
10. Matt Green – Sporties Spitfires (NT)

Good call Chelly. Twomey seems to have forgotten Bytel’s 2017 form. When fit and firing, he is the equal of any in this draft year.

You did mention Jack Bytel’s injury history which has affected his draft credentials. His problem that he has a lingering back injury and has hardly played this season. You would need a good medical report to take him in the draft.

If going by Twomey's draft predictor we had 2 mid-late 20's picks, bring in both O'Halloran and Duursma would be a good evening. Both have good pace with O'Halloran more a mid and Duursma more a flanker/wingman.

Yes like players such as Selwood and more recently Charlie Curnow. Highly rated but slipped in their draft year due to injury. Bytel is a classy midfielder who had a clean bill of health in 2017. At pick 36ish, he would be a steal.

I'm glad WJ that you didn't bring up the late night misadventures & alleged constabulary probe. We wouldn't want the other suitors to hear about them.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
