At 203 cms and 105 kgs, the same weight as Meese, who is 197cms at best, you would think Spencer would have been able to compete, yet again for the second year running in finals, as Chook said, he was terrible.

I think if someone wants him you let him go and develop King and Flip. We can use Pedo, Tom Mac and Watts in the short term as backup.

I have it on pretty good authority Meese shed quite a few kg's this year. Spencer had a weight advantage as well.

Thanks KC, DD, Drunken67 and all other posters, sounds like big Jake has completely lost his Mojo, good to see that some of the Dee's players put in to help our Casey brethren. Let's hope that we can get over the Tiges next week and go deep into the finals. We are all saddened and disappointed by the results in 2017 and we have every right to feel gutted and down But we should't denigrate our teams so badly, we broke some hoodoo's this year and I anticipated going to the Footy again for the first time in a long time. Go Casey.........!!!

What's our chances of drafting Fritsch?

Pretty hard to know unless you're an AFL recruiter, but I know for a fact that the MFC players hope he gets drafted by us.

Not only is he freakishly talented for his size, but he has great personality and the boys love him.

Should have hidden him in the Development league once we realised his potential. Difficult to do I know. Sydney has its academy so they have their own catchment, also I guess, do Brissy, GWS, and Suns so they don't have to hide any talent, they just draft it.  We all suspect West Coast and Adelaide of doing plenty to hide or discredit local talent so we pass. No draft gifts for us I am afraid.

59 Spencer- Possibly the worst game I've seen Jake play.. Banished to full forward/ bench/ relieving King for the last 3 qtrs after his embarrassing opening term.

I am so over Spencer. His performance in the grand final last year was disgraceful and more of the same yesterday. Hope this is the last year he's on the list.

Jake is a battler, amazing some on here seemed to think he would be picked up by another club this preseason as their first ruck choice. All he needed was a chance.

The word is we have offered him another year.

Personally I think he has got the most out of his talent but his time is done here.

I would like us to pick an experienced ruck with some runs on the board to be backup for Max and help with the development of the kids, both ruck and mids...

If Jake signs for another year it will be the most bewildering decision I've ever seen - for BOTH parties.  We need to develop a ruck, and Jake needs to make hay while the sun is shining.  Having him parked at Casey helps neither him nor us now, I wouldn't have thought.

I liked Kings Game, he is a big boy and I think with another preseason and a bit of confidence he could become a good ruckman.  Outside of King, Brayshaw was really the only other MFC player that I walked away happy with and the future he will has, the rest are a long way off.

Was Goodwin there to watch the game?

Yes Goodwin was there, he and McCartney had a word with coach Plapp before the huddle at each break.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
