By "lock" I mean you can't envisage that player being dropped for reasons of form.

Voting is based on the remainder of this season and the rest of next season.

Astounding some don't have Watts, Garlett, Salem, Oliver, Tmac, Jetta, Hunt, Hogan as locks... I'm putting it down to missing the click 

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 23, 25, 29, 36, 39. That's this year's list for mine. 16 players is a very solid core. 

Two players in that team - 6 and 23 - are in decline and probably at the point where the slope becomes steep. We need players to step up and take their place or the core weakens. 

17 and 28 are "wait and see" for mine. Fast establishing themselves in the core but I'm not ready to call them yet. I want to see how this season pans out with 25 as a forward.

A couple such as 19, 30 and 43 have done an excellent job of establishing their place in the side this year, but I still classify them as foot soldiers whose places are up for the take. They've had excellent seasons though.

We've got a good pool of players now who can step up and play, but for mine any of the core 16 coming out will weaken the side.

Apologies for referring to players as jumper numbers. Writing on my phone and being lazy.

Not sure why you wouldn't list all our players as there's a couple I'd add as "locks" that aren't listed... 

I.e. Nibbler and Harmes will pass Vince and Lewis by mid 2018.

You can only list 20 options.

To be fair I think those who consider Harmes and ANB a lock, that is that it's near inconceivable they they be dropped and their names are in permanent marker on the whiteboard, would be in the significant minority.

+ Angus Brayshaw - once he's both match and mentally fit again I don't think he'll give his spot up ever again now he's been out for so long.

All of them, they have done very well, and i am very proud of every one of them. Oh and of course Goody!

I think the results will be interesting. 

Fir example, at the time of my drafting this response 40 votes had been cast, 2 had said 'none' - and from the remaining 38 voters the maximum votes any player had was 35 (Gawn, Hibberd, Jones, Petracca & Viney).

If you ran this last season Dean Kent would have been on that list for many. What a difference a year makes.

On the flip side, not many would have said Frosty would be on that list last season. He is special.

I voted for all of them. The selection is  the core of the team and cant see that changing in a year. Lewis and vince will still be there next year id say.

Having said that every year somone bobs up. Guys like Hannan. 

Most of the players there would come under the category of 'if they are fit then they play'

I left Vince and Lewis off purely because old man time can sometimes creep up very quickly, but if they play as they played this year then, yes, locks. 

I left Omac and Frost off purely because of the body of work that would make them locks isn't quite there yet, but the they have been very good recently and if they continue to grow as they have then only injury will keep them out of the team.

Unsure about Oliver. He does some nice things but I'd like to see Goody pressure him to step up and get another 10-15 possessions a quarter.

Going forward our fringers AVB, ANB, Bugg, Kent and JKH will be in and out of the side and we need to eventually replace them, but for the moment, if they're capable of playing 10-12 solid games a year, we'll win enough to be finals bound. 

Kent won't be on the list much longer and unless AVB can get his body right, he might also get the chop in the next two years. Vince hasn't got much longer left either. And I reckon Lewis has one more left.

But it's always about those bottom 5-6 players in your 22. Can they contribute or are they glaring weaknesses?

I look forward to the continuing list build and it'll be interesting to see the types of players who Taylor and his team target this off season.

I'd separate ANB from the others. He's going to be around for a while I think.

Gee, he makes some poor decisions and still panics with ball in hand though. Certainly getting better and knows what's required to get the ball now. Seems to really gut run, which is good to see.

As it stands right now, there is a world of difference between ANB and Kent. I wouldn't be grouping those two together. JKH will pass Kent (certainly based on last night) and may end up the best of these. It feels like Kent has lost his way.

 Previously,Kents good games were quiet in terms of defensive efforts but he used to kick 3 or 4.

 

Also Wagner and possibly Hannan.  Excusing them for this weekend in their first dozen games.

And easier to say who is not a lock - Frost, Garlett, Hogan, OMac, Petracca, Tyson, Vince, Salem
