Dom Tyson

His kicking is diboloical - 9 kicks on Monday - 7 clangers from those kicks and 1 kick that was'nt counted as clanger as a relayed free kick was paid - that kick went straight to Richmind but Harmes got the down field.

At the moment he is aliability with ball in hand and needs a long break IMO.

Well I guess I can remember his only good kick for the night then, a lovely long ball to Hogan, who should have got a free on this occasion. Not many players on our list could have made that pass. Kent and Petracca are probably the only other players who would have got that kind of penetration.

When Brayshaw is well again I think he is a much better option in the middle than Tyson.  Gus can do all the things Dom can plus some.

Except find the football..........

Tyson has been poor this season, but in his 3rd season he came 2nd in our best and fairest. While Brayshaw is struggling to get a game and gets better with each game he doesn't play on this board.

What year was that?

Fitness or lack of preseason have nothing to do with missing simple kicks and having no awareness 5 minutes into a game.

He's a slow thinker, slow mover and an inconsistent kick.

Plays some very good games now and then, but his stinkers are too often and too costly. Not a fan at all. First player I'd trade.

Play people in form - he is not , move on!!

I agree with that sentiment WA but who is in better form that can play a mid field role inside/outside and take Dom's place at the moment who is also not under an injury cloud?  I'm 'Buggered' if I know.... OH...wait!

If the general premise is that Tyson is not currently playing very well, I agree.

I'm not sure I accept the argument that he's an inherently flawed player as I've seen more than enough from him to suggest he can be a vital part of our midfield moving forward.

But right now his kicking is off and he's moving too slowly (both physically, in terms of legspeed, and mentally, in terms of decision-making).

What a stupid comment. If we had won on Monday night and Dom was best on ground nobody would be questioning his contribution. But we didn't and he wasn't, so it reasonable that the performances of senior players are scrutinised.

For me, Dom is one of several key midfielders who is below his best. We can afford to carry one of them, but not three or four as was the case on Monday.

Not sure how I feel about calling him "senior".

He's 23 and has played 75 games.

At this club, that probably makes him "senior", but at any other club it wouldn't I don't think.

You're such a limited football observer if you think Tyson's issues are purely pre-season related.

He can't run, his field kicking is terrible and he is nowhere near aggressive enough. GWS knew which one to let go.

Tyson was great in year 1, when the opposition had no idea who he was, and he was only competing against Nathan Jones as that first-possession midfielder. The opposition now know he's a left footer and that he doesn't have a right side, meanwhile Oliver and Viney have now gone ahead of him and he has no other strings to his bow.

With Lewis back this week, I hope Goodwin sends Tyson back to Casey.  You can't play all our slow mids at Etihad against the lightning fast bombers.

We will almost certainly have to trade one of them out at the end of the year.

Tyson has at least begun to kick on his right - he did it on Monday.

I can't recall Viney using his right this year.

What does "GWS knew which one to let go" mean? They've lost, what, 30 players? Did they "know" to let Treloar, Adams, Boyd, Bruce, Hombsch or Steele go?

2014 and came 4th last year.

2014 we won Six games. Not many good players around that year not a lot of competition for votes.

I will find it hard to disagree with that but my point was he was capable of doing that in his 3rd year, Brayshaw can't even hold his place in a team that has all kinds of NQR's getting games. Tyson also kicked 16 goals that year.

To say Brayshaw can do everything plus some is far fetched.

Don't believe I ever said Angus was better in fact I am with you on this one. Tyson is at present clearly better than Brayshaw but again that does not saw a lot about Tyson.

To be fair Gus has been concussed and often not allowed available.

But yes Dom doing better. Bar is low(-ish) in that regard.

Dom among about a half dozen playing unders currently.

Averages 24.8 disposals, 5 tackles and is going at 65% DE. His DE is the lowest of our mids and he's not scoring goals. They are the two things he needs to work on.

The knocks on his defensive game are a myth. The only way he goes out this season is for his DE. I can't see it being this week.

wrong.. got a game and played a serviceable one at that  29 disposals  113 afl fantasy score the second highest or the club on the day

DE of 69% yesterday, which is a slight improvement. DE can be a misleading stat though and I wouldn't rely on fantasy points to tell you who had a good game and who didn't. Dom still struggles with his kicking.

The good news is that he has no issues finding the ball and has great hands in traffic. As well as that, he's 23 so has a bit of time to turn it around.

Tyson may have become a victim of himself, he burst onto the scene for us in his first year 2014 & really hasn't matched that form consistently. We have seen him dominate games here & there but I'd have thought by his 4th season with us he would be pushing to A grade status, injuries have not helpt. I still think he'll be a good player for the football club

I doubt his form is worse than in 2014, it's just the teams got much better and he walked in to a bad team in 2014 and racked up a lot of disposals.

Playing a tired Essendon always helps but I thought he was starting to spread from stoppages faster and his running to get outside ball and clean hands are both positives. I thought his kicking was getting better too until a silly turnover and a missed goal.

This will sound really harsh but I think he's just afraid to get caught holding the ball or to open his body up to get crunched so he isn't looking up and picking out targets. That's confidence in his body that isn't there yet. Another interrupted preseason and he's going better than this time last year so I'm hoping he's about to turn the corner.

Adding more mids to the rotations and using him on the wing and forward is probably good for his game as well.

Totally agree  Tyson can and will be better player when  fellow mids like Viney and Jones et al...get collectively better. Just think we are hanging the player before we see Group improvement. Notice Sunday that Lewis lifted the mids and in turn Tyson's efforts after half time.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
