The Robbo Conundrum

I'm wondering if somebody can explain this oddity I've found.

In the last week I've seen Russell Robertson listed as being selected in the main draft at pick 68 in a couple of articles.  This puzzled me as I've always understood him to have come from the Rookie list.  I went looking and found that on Wikipedia, Footywire and the AFL site he is listed as having been selected at 68 in the ND and also at 48 in the Rookie Draft IN THE SAME YEAR.  How is this possible?  Was there something really odd going on because it was the first year the Rookie Draft was held?

Anyone have any idea?

I was always under the impression that he was a rookie selection.

I can only guess he was upgraded the following year using pick 68.

The real question is how we can get him to just sit down and shut up during home game breaks.

Also, I can recall he was recruited from a " hangers" reel on the Footy show

he loves the club.

i don't understand why he doesn't do more in the media. he's articulate, he's good looking, he was a 'flair' player, and he loves his footy.

he's a top dude from my interactions with him and he well deserves success in a post-footy life!

To the left or to the right Biff?

Oh, sorry, wrong robbo.

I agree, but unfortunately it's part of his job to "entertain" the paying customer.

However he is a bit of a character who could be used quite successfully in the commercial media (certainly better than a couple of the clowns on Foxtel).

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.

The Demons were sloppy all day and could not stop the run and carry of the fast moving Hawthorn as the Hawks cruised to an easy 36 point win. Is the season over yet?
