Jarryd Lyons

Not sure if you're aware mate, but recruiting decisions aren't based on a Demonland consensus.

Shut down all posts that don't have a direct line to Paul Roos, Peter Jackson or Todd Viney.

My post is an OPINION ... get it !!!

Negative. Neanderthal. Need I continue.

Friend from work who knows Jarryd has told me that melbourne has met with him

Now this is interesting.......tells me he could be part of the Danger deal.

Pick 2 and 3 for Danger and Lyons.

i like that, do it

Not necessarily. We courted Lyons last year as well. It's only natural we'd caught him again as his situation hasn't really changed much and neither has ours. We still need more mids.

Could anyone see a Toumpas + our 4th round (59ish) for Lyons and their 2nd (30ish)?

No thankyou. Lyons is a good value pick up for around a 3rd rounder.

so many people writing off Toumpas

Hasnt been offered a contract yet although Adel have said hes required.

Just get him to walk to the Pre-Season Draft, although StK can stuff that up

Not writing Toumpas off - You've got to give something to get something.

He's not worth our 2nd round and hopefully our 3rd round is reserved for Stretch. Our fourth round will probably be too low at pick 60ish and we don't have many players with currency.

The deal I put forward is essentially Toumpas and steak knives for Lyon and a pick we can swap for Lumumba. Two top 25 players for one we barely saw in 2014. I'd certainly think about that deal (although I might be over-rating Lyon).

Haven't heard his name much this trade period

Has he re-signed with the Crows?

Are the Dees interested? Demonlanders seemed to be pretty keen last year and now he's available we've been pretty quiet.

Any news anyone?

He should have taken the offer up from the Dees last year. Would have played a lot of footy with us this year and a lot midfield action.

I like the idea of picking him up in the PSD unless we already have someone else in mind (Frost?).

Goodwin has come out only last week to say categorically that Toumpas is not on the trade table and is part of Melbourne's forward plans!

Signed a 2 year contract with the Crows today.

Presumably now off the radar?

I'd say so. I'm not sure how on the radar he would've been anyway. Not when we'd have to trade something good to get him. Certainly now we have the first live PSD pick we'd be chasing anyone of quality we can find out of contract to tank their negotiations and come to us. But not before.

I did really like the idea of Lyons, particularly last year. But looking deeper I'm not convinced he'd offer us anything more than what injury free Riley and Michie should offer in 2015.

He's not tall, not fast, not particularly skilled nor is he that Nath Jones or Jack Viney level of inside ball winning animal. Riley might win a clearance or stick a tackle better than him, and Viv might take a mark or kick a goal better than him.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
