As the last flickering embers of 87 depart from this day 29 years ago!

Was it really that long that we all had a red hot go

Im left thinking that in the essence of time

We have had opportunity to shine

At Western oval on such a day

The first semblance of Spring weather I can still remember

The way we went at it with thoughts of September!

To die for the jumper that crew would surely assign

The passion and the belief a wealth of determination not to accept defeat in a year to define

Play up take the stand the dees are caling you to the tried and so true

To the fantastic spirit of the Red and Blue

You will be remembered forever and ever

With thoughts of Jim, Sean and Rob now together forever!

Can we ever break the 50 year drought

and win one for all supporters, past players and roosy such a great coach no doubt.

Well, play on take on the game, as fortune favours the brave!

As I am left to remenber

The great game in spring weather at the Western oval on the cusp of September!!!!!!

That team in 1987 was exciting, skilled, talented.

The team at Kardinia Park yesterday??? The team vs Carlton last week (beaten by Essendon yesterday) when finals was an exciting possibility?

Dreadful and embarrassing. Complete lack of excitement, pride, effort. Not enjoying their footy the past 2 weeks. That's nothing to do with being young. It's psychological. Go and play tiddlywinks.

Haven't been back to Whitten Oval since that win against Footscray in 1987. Very fond memories. I was young and full of hope and joy. Now not so young, but still looking for that spark again from football.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
