Just back for a short break. Couldn't get to the game but watched whilst babysitting grandkids.  They learned some new adjectives, verbs and nouns!

What a win.

Never too early to start teaching kids a bit of grammar & expanding their vocab!

Paul Roos - perhaps his legacy will now truly be that of a Messiah - (or possibly Moses, leading his people out of the wilderness).

Anyway, for Roos, today has been the long awaited validation & vindication prior to his valediction.

That depends on whether he walks on water or just parts it! ^_^

Yes I thought Cyril was doing a fair bit of unjustified, and, as it turned out, premature strutting today. A couple of times he seemed to be waiting for the adoring fellow players to gather around for the predictable accolades.

He's a balding little freak. End of story.

Hey Dunstall, did ya see that? Now [censored] off to the snow ya muppet!

Can I somehow frame this please?

[censored] hell! Just got home after numerous celebratory froffies. What a win.

Watts is a genuine gun, Viney is a star and our next captain, Oscar McDonald has a big future, Billy Stretch will play 200 games and we are a better team with Cam Pedersen.

Some interesting stats on the AFL app -

- Clayton Oliver spent the least amount of time on the ground of any Demon - 78 minutes - yet racked up 23 touches, 11 tackles and 8 clearances.

- Dom Tyson led the team with 11 score involvements - next were Watts with 9, Viney with 8.

- Top 5 for 'Pressure acts' -  N Jones 21, C Oliver 20, J Viney 19,  C Petracca 15, J Watts 12

What app is that Tracc?

One thing nobody seems to have mentioned is the high hit on the Weed from Rioli.  Weed was bent over to pick up the ball and Rioli came in from directly in front and nailed him.  Weed was stunned and would up tackled and the Hawk supporters were screaming for a Holding the ball call.

Incidentally, why were there so many Hawks in the Melbourne Members area?  There were dudes at the gate checking memberships, but apparently they didn't feel any need to actually keep people out.

Best win in many years.

I haven't felt as chuffed since witnessing the Geelong win last year, but today's result takes the cake. What a win!

Watched in a room full of neutrals and the pro-MFC atmosphere at the end was bloody phenomenal. Holy crap. Hard to imagine sleeping tonight. Bloody brilliant.

Interesting given where you live, Mister Nash.

Oliver's game today was also a ripper, and further proof we need to trust the FD more.  He had 5 weeks out in the VFL, away from the spotlight, to work on areas of his game and freshen up, and look at the result.  They knew what they were doing and were rewarded for it.

Roos said in his press conference during the week that they'd managed Oliver really well. That's pretty clear to see. I love that he earned his way back with a 39 touch game. He was brilliant. Already one of my absolute favourites.

Bright? Mate, it's blinding.

The match was Game of the Round tonight on FOX and Jono Brown said something along the lines of 'Melbourne are building a premiership midfield'. It was even more emphatic than that, but he as glowing in his praise of our midfield and rightfully so. I'll say it again: in 2-3 years time we will have the second best midfield behind GWS. If we can keep this group together, we're a real chance at having the best midfield in the league.

How was that passage of play after our last goal, where I reckon Oliver laid 3 tackles in 5 seconds in our forwardline.

I do hope James Frawley enjoyed todays game

I reckon Nathan Jones did. That must feel good. Staying loyal.

I have no problem with the Rioli shirtfront- that's what footy is about.  I think people are missing the bit where Oliver got up and played his part in a winning side.  Footy is a contact sport, I would hope that if our players were in the same situation every single one would take that option to smash the opposition player.

Without Poppy and Cyril the Hawks game plan is stuffed.  No wonder they are hunting Tom Mitchell.

They'll need more than Tom Mitchell. Brad Crouch as well would help though. Not sure they'll get both/either though.

Thanks Melbourne. It seems that only Emma Quayle and I tipped you to win!

I thought we'd win too. Have also said since last year that we'd win 10-12 games. We should get 10 now.

I, m up there as far as age goes with other demonland members on this site and are just speechless. One thing Dawes v Pederson argument over

It shouldn't have taken that long, but today's game should be the final nail in the coffin of that one.

Not if it hits the head it's not!! Or are some heads more "sacrosanct" than others?

Glad to see the Ch7 news has picked up the Mitchell hit on Watts (while Watts was on the ground) too.

Rance got two weeks. What will Mitchell get?

Just watching the replay now which is bringing back memories of the game, one of which was the unofficial Hawks cheer squad in the standing room at the Punt rd end. They had chants putting down Melbourne which included the F bomb.Easily the most arrogant supporters that I have encountered this year.

My most hated supporters and have been for many years.

In other news, approaching the tenth year with my Hawthorn-supporting fiancée, and I finally get that first win since we've been together. Now we just have to beat them in a Grand Final in order to get her to switch sides. Not sure her mob will have a chance over the next 3-4 years to play in too many of those. That cliff is coming up quickly.

If i was a Dorks supporter, i couldn't really care less if that was the case. Played in 5 GF's in the past 8 years (4 in 4) and have won 3 in a row.

As much as i hate their arrogance, their recent success has given them reason to be. I for one am [censored] envious. When will it be our turn?

Liverpool just beat Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley, lucky I had those plastic sheets up.

If the umpires carry their form into the dressing room they will not just give Rioli the 3 votes, they will give him the 2 and 1 as well. That was the worst I have seen them perform.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
