MFC special offer call

Featured Replies

Tonight I received a telemarketing call from the club.  Wanted $129 for $350 pack.  Light on detail.  I had no time to hear the bigger pitch.  Anyone else get this, or know the details?

I didn't answer it but googled the number, was an 02 number. My investigation lead me to believe the same number is calling all different club supporters offering deals. Dunno if it's legit or not though.

Was an 02 number.  Definitely a telemarketer.  Said all of the $129 went to the club.

However, had the email address I use for the club, so suggests my details were given by the club for this program.  Would welcome any other info, though.

I received the 02 call about 7:30 pm at night. The 'prize' was me appearing in a team photo or the chance to run out as a mascot.

It didn't sound legit, and far from professional IMO. Disappointed if the club has chosen this mob.

Can confirm it was a third-party, not the club directly. Whether the club engaged them or not is unknown. Generally what happens is that when you input your details for a competition or whatever, these details can be easily accessed and/or sold off to the highest bidder. This is generally how telemarketers get your details.

Only if I can choose my own outfit.

I didn't take the call but looked it up on a reverse number site to see who it is from. Lots of complaints made and it appears they know which club you barrack for as the complaints came from supporters of every club. Most suspected it was a scam and more likely the source of info came from the AFL. The caller apparently offers the same deal just inserts your club.

why don't the club additionally just email the details to all members at least

reading the above link it is a lot to take in in a phone call, especially if you are suspicious of the callers bona fides (as i would be)

would also save on commission fees

just saying............

At least we can be sure it'll be appropriately diabolical.
