Eye opening read. Absolutely stunning attitude from the coaching staff and players at whichever club this is.

Edit: this is the original article re: players views on racism, homophobia and violence

A great read. Wow. Is more proof needed that racism in the stands and on the ground still exists? Shall we open up the Adam Goodes can of worms?

Imagine being told that you couldn't fill your prescription because of your skin colour! And your own team mates making racist jokes about a club official!

Yeah, disgraceful. I'm producing a documentary series on the Sudanese community in Melbourne at the moment. It's the same sort of stuff. People want to say consistently that Australia isn't a racist country, but I'm not even sure some people realise when they're being racist.

Geez we've got a long way to go (as if the adam goodes case last year didnt prove that)

I know the point of it was not to witch hunt which club gecko is.... but if its us ill be [censored] wild.

All rather sad :(

Wonder which club. ( Has 9 non Anglo's)

I'm hoping Nev Jetta was the single indigenous player that felt he inspired the culture of his club. I hear he's brilliant internally.

Somehow I don't picture it being a younger list who would hold these sorts of attitudes, or tolerate those comments. Certainly not a club with Paul Roos in charge.

Collingwood? Hawthorn? Don't forget Lumumba left Collingwood because of their shithouse internal culture and Bucks not giving a [censored] about changing it.

From what I've heard about Eddie McGuire as a person and the whole Nicky Winmar history, wouldn't surprise me if it was Collingwood.

Not to mention his little addition to the Goodes saga.

You do hear stories about his behavior off-camera and it ain't pretty.

A bit like that egomaniac Daryl Somers.

it should be fairly rudimentary to work out if you can find out staff lists - whichever club had a non-anglo player development manager at some stage over the last three years.

Collingwood do currently, not sure how long hes been in the role

No chance Club Gecko would be us. I'm proud of the lead we've taken with women's footy and the way we enable our indigenous players to educate our non-indigenous players about indigenous culture.

Some of those questions are pretty hopeless. You can question the efficacy of land rights as a tool for indigenous economic advancement without being racist. Likewise, you can observe male violence in society and conclude that it's natural for men to fight, without thinking it's a good thing. I'd be asking for my money back if I was the AFL.

Not sure really but it is interesting.  Lots of pieces of puzzle to put together first.

Christian Stagliano PDM at the filth

Who on earth would be racist towards Italians for goodness sakes???

The only Italian I can't stand is that bloody Fabio Grosso. Imbroglione !!!!!!!!!

Let's just drum Gecko out of the league now and award any points they earned to the team they beat !

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
