Daisy is without doubt one of the greatest assets the club has. She is a class act. Seems the league is starting to clue onto that as well. 

If you ever get the opportunity to hear Daisy speak, take it up. She is amazing. At last years B&F her speech drew people to their feet and a thunderous applause. We are very lucky to have her represent the Club on and off the field. My hope is that we can in some way include her in our Administration.She will bring people with her.

Yeah she was on game day a few weeks ago. Was brilliant and certainly knows her stuff.

Apparently that speach was made with under an hours warning. Makes all the more impressive. 

Her speech at last year's Brownlow was also impressive,she did her homework and delivered it perfectly.

daisy is super nice (and talented). i got to have a kick with her, viney & hogan at the logo launch in yarra park last year. she kicked them low and hard. definitely an important card in melbourne's pack moving forward..

What will happen with Daisy when the league goes ahead? Will she re-enter the draft?

In the article Caro said she will captain the dees. Surely the AFl are clever enough to give the dogs and us either the first two picks (so we can pick our captains, although I don't think the dogs have a daisy equivalent) or give us a free pick outside the draft to use on the captains or our marquee players. 

Sorry, just realised I used AFL and clever in the same sentence. My mind must be failing.

Read something somewhere that indicated each club would initially be able to sign 5(?) players prior to the draft.

I guess then it would be the chosen players choice as to who to sign with.

Daisy is definitely in my top 3 MFC players. What she has done and is doing is ground breaking stuff and I'm so proud of the club and the action that they've taken to be at the forefront of women's footy.

Haven't read that but it sounds like a sensible way to go. 

Will there be a draft? Surely you can't have women moving state for what will initially be a semi professional league. Victorian women split between the 4 clubs here, others stay in their home state teams. There might be a draft to split up the talent in Victoria but I think the Dogs and Dees should retain a fair chunk of the Victorian girls they've already had play for them.

By the sound of that Caro article our biggest risk of losing Daisy is to the AFL, but I can't imagine that will happen until after she stops playing. The AFL love a conflict of interest but current players working in league admin would surely be a step too far.

I love that we are on the front foot with a women's team. I just wish we had a ground set up to play women's footy and VFL at. I think that will be the biggest challenge for the club over the next decade. We need a proper home base if we are to capitalise on this investment. We also need the curtain raiser rules changed so that women's games are proper curtain raisers to the mens when possible. 

Daisy Pearce will be guest speaker at the Casey Demons Supporter Group breakfast on Wednesday 18th May, out at Casey Fields.  Melbourne are training there from 9.30 am. Information and tickets are available from the Casey Demons Supporter Group website. 

Timing is everything isn't it? A few years ago and the only coverage of women's footy was on the Coodabeens. The girls were battling it out in the mud for zilch.

Now Daisy will be making a squillion - and good for her  she is a talented and articulate advocate.

I hope the comp takes off and they all make a quid.

Steph Chiocci was very impressive for the Dogs last year, both on and off the field. I heard her speak at a Fitzroy ammos function then watched her play against the Dees.

Daisy is my 'first love' (evidence includes selfie with her at the B&F) but don't write off the other talented women players going around.

And agree with others re the Daisy speech. Brought a chill to the spine and a tear to the eye, all in one short moment.

I was there too. Without a word of a lie she kicks much better than viney. Both the way the ball spins and the penetration.

Certainly wasn't trying to write off the other women players, was more asking the question of the Dogs, have they embraced a captain of the womens team the same way we have? Have they taken them in and supported the womens team like we have? Do they have a figure head of the womens team?

I honestly don't know the answer and I haven't really looked but I also haven't seen one out and about among the AFL. 

Her B&F speech was for me one of the highlights of the night. And according to Caro she did it with just hours to prepare! I see her as tightly linked to the club as Nate Jones or Jack Viney, she really loves wearing the red and blue.

The last 3-4 years must be an absolute blur for her, really she has come from relative obscurity in the football world and now she is one of the major leaders in the woman's side of the game AND appearing to be a leader in the broader sense of the competition. She's got endorsements, media managers, she sits on panels alongside Paul Roos, and does regular spots on the tele. 

Full credit to her, she has had all this happen in such a short period of time, and she still seems to be one of the friendliest people you will ever meet.

I used to play volleyball against Daisy. Her best friend is a mate of mine. She is an athletic machine. Her coordination is unlike nearly anyone I've ever met, male or female.

What I wasn't expecting was her confidence as a media performer. She's already incredibly charismatic and polished, with very little practice and (I assume) very little training. Extremely impressive.

I don't think anyone realised at the time how important it would turn out to be for the Dees when we secured the first pick in the first women's AFL draft. Daisy was always going to be pick one. Turns out she would have been the best pick one even if she was only half as good at footy as she is. She's the complete package, and she'll put our club in the spotlight next year, big time.

Players from Tasmania and Canberra will be aligned to the NSW team, with Northern Territory players available for the South Australian team."

Who was our women's recruiting person?

Was it Pendegast? Would be his best skinny, skillful with upside pick!
