Was at training before I head to Sydney for the weekend, I spotted all regular players but vanders. Obviously king wasn't there. Garlett looks good to go. Petracca bouncing around like a 5 year old on red cordial.

Heard vB wasn't to be seen, can you confirm GD?

On top of that, skills looked sharp and the whole group was really up and about. They almost look like a country club, with how well they all get along and encourage. I can't see dawes being far away from returning to Casey.  Trengove also looking quite good!

What needed clarification ?

Obviously missed that first time around, surely even you could have figured that out?

So lucky you're here to care about the little things...

It must be really hard for opposition analysts now when looking at Melbourne. I mean if we're all struggling to identify the correct ins and outs with our new found depth, they'd be tearing their hair out.

The only constants so far in terms of danger signs from an opposition POV is trying to curb Gawn's and Viney's influence in the middle and limit the supply to Hogan/Watts.

I still think Maric is short of a gallop, and he has to be recalled due to Hampson. Deledio would still be a risk not being able to kick 100% last week, and would lack match fitness. But the Tigers have to roll the dice at 1 and 3 v the Dees.

I really hope we give 'em hell.

Haven't I read somewhere that Maric has played the last two VFL games? If that's correct, I'm not sure what else he could do to be ready to play. On the other hand, if Deledio plays I'd accept that he may not be full ready.

Maybe someone can confirm for me here, but my Richmond mate, says his first game, Maric's TOG wasn't all that much. I haven't seen it, I just took his word. Regardless it's a step up in a cracker game against a form ruckman.

With maybe one full VFL game under his belt, he still maybe "short of a gallop"....anyway if he's blowing early we'll know.

In.  Vince, Garlett

Out, Oliver and Brayshaw

Oliver to be dropped/rested, only 11 touches.  still did ok but the two coming in are better.

Brayshaw - dont mess around with concussion with a young mid - bound to get hit a lot

Yeah, wasn't much at all, little over a half and about 3/4 on the weekend, i think he'd be a week off if they had another option but they don't so he'll have to play to try and limit Gawns dominance as much as he possibly can.

Geez we haven't been in this position for a long long time.

Two stars to come in and maybe some youth to go out, so two of Harmes Oliver Hunt Brayshaw.

We seem to win when both Pedo and Frost are playing so they must stretch the opposition a bit and make it easier for Hoges and Watts

Hard call

But I'm saying Garlett for Harmes as both forwards ,and Vince slots into Hunts position.

The more I think about this, the more I feel Jayden Hunt should be omitted this week. I understand why other supporters would be reluctant to drop a player coming off a solid debut, but to my mind, he is clearly 22nd best player who played in last week’s side. And we need to maximise our chances of winning against Richmond.

The other omission is much more open for debate, although I wouldn’t like to see Brayshaw being dropped again given he looks to be getting back to his old self. I also wouldn’t like to see Matt Jones omitted (although he may miss through injury) because I feel he is currently our best outside midfield runner.

This is a tough choice and it will be interesting how Roos goes.

Damn PG, I am struggling with fractions, 1/2 and 3/4

Is that 1/2 of a quarter or half a game, and is it 3/4 of a quarter or 3/4's of a game or 3/4's of a half or 11/16th's?

first game he played about 50% game time,

and the second was about 75% he did look a little better the second time around but he had Miles and Townsend in the 2's so that would have helped a bit.

I honestly wouldn't play him yet, it just seems to be a case of them having no other options besides letting Vickery ruck the whole game against Gawn which would be borderline tanking.

Try this then

I think PG is suggesting Maric played around 50 % of round 1 and followed that with about 75 % of the round 2 game

Fractions gone

That's what he said.

Sounds like Deledio will play if he trains strongly on Thursday. Incredible that they wouldn't give him a run in the VFL but they're desperate.

Tigers on the brink of a crisis I reckon.  you can just smell it.  Best player rushed back and re-injures his quad.  captain under the pump chokes.

we already screwed the Pies season, lets keep going with the Tiges!

If we win by 40 plus points watch the heat ramp up another couple of notches! so far they're fortunate Freo, Port and Collingwood are also underperforming so the spotlight is a little bit shared, but imo the Tigers and the Pies are the worst of the lot, both have recruited to be finals teams.

Rushing back Deledio would be such a  Richmond thing to do. Watch him break down in the first quarter.

I've done a U-turn and agree.

As much as I hate first gamers getting dropped the reality is he'll get other chancers and be hungry now he's had a taste.  And having watched the replay again Brayshaw did some nice things.  He's not playing on the ball much, but that's what an apprenticeship is at a good club.

I'd drop Matt Jones.  He really is ordinary around a hot ball.  Whether it be a 2 foot handball to his namesake, who's already under pressure, running into Harmes as he's trying to clear from D50 (resulting in a goal) or collapsing like a house of cards as soon as he's tackled (Oliver is already hard to take to ground) he just doesn't have the class to play in a quality team.  He's OK and I've seen plenty worse, but his outside run isn't enough to be a regular in a good side.  Handy depth.

OUT: Hunt, M. Jones

In: Vince, Garlett

Don'tthink we'll drop M Jones & Hunt,we lack outside run as it is, so i expect at least one will be kept in the team.

I still think they'll rest Oliver. Roos mentioned he was nearly rested for Round 3, so with these selection headaches, it's as good a time to rest him as any.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
