AzzKikA 2,371 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Alternatively, there was another phantom draft done at the time on bigfooty, and they were less than glowing about Toumpas at a time when a lot of "experts" were. You win some and you lose some, but if you're using Knightmare as a draft resource, you're gonna have a bad time. LOLS! 1 Quote
JTR 2,910 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) The description was correct at the time as JT was regarded as a top pick by the industry. What happened? Was it the hip problems? We have not seen the explosiveness or genuine speed as described and without the speed to give him time and space perhaps that impacts on his decision making because he has really struggled for composure at the top level. 2 x hips Appendicitis Lack of confidence He's never really had a full run at it, 100% and full of confidence. I'd be sad to see him go, knowing he can be so much better. Edited October 14, 2015 by JTR 2 Quote

I appreciate the time KM puts into his threads, but if we're talking bigfooty draft writers, I tend to lean more toward the BGFN guys (Skippos, Rahul, Jourdan Canil). I know they base their write ups on more live watching of games and have decent access to footage. 1 Quote

ChaserJ 5,192 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Only because I can't remember, was Luke Hodge a late bloomer?Yeah. For the first 2-3 years of his career, he was deemed to be the wrong call given Juddy hit the ground running.Wasn't until Hawks premiership year in 08 that the commentary started to truly shift. Dee-licious 1,954 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 AFL releasing a video of Robbo and Parish today. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2015-10-15/draft-hopeful-versus-a-champ Is it fate or are they laughing at us? Quote
Redleg 42,172 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hopefully Toumpas? Since we appear to have wasted another high pick, I don't find that humorous. 1 Quote
Beetle 4,739 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Ill be honest...i know NOTHING about this years potential draftees... If we maintain pick 6 and dont land Parish...who are we likely to get best case? Surely there will be some form of potential gun up for grabs at pick 6? Quote
Dee-licious 1,954 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Weiderman and Curnow are the experts bet. Weiderman a key forward. Curnow a 191 forward / mid with speed Quote

ChaserJ 5,192 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Both potentially available at pick 6? Curnow less likely. Think we'd be [censored] a hoop if he was still there at 6. Would be in contention if we held pick 3. Weideman probably widely thought to be in the 10-15 range because we didn't see him for most of the year through injury. Some believe on talent he'd be in the first 5. Quote
olisik 4,060 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Curnow got 14.5 in beep test. I'm pretty sure pick 3 is for Curnow. Quote

MadAsHell 4,217 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Not sure how some older members will feel with a player with this appearance running down the wing on the G? Quote
olisik 4,060 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 His too small, one contested mark in 14 games says it all. We want players who throw themselves at the ball in the air and in the ground like Fyfe. Hope we go for Curnow, combination of Curnow/Petracca/Trengove/Kent rotating through forward/half forward and even in the midfield could really push opposition teams to defence. Having this marking power will also make it hard for oppositions to get out of D50 Quote

Don't see Nathan Jones or Jack Viney taking too many either. 1 Quote

Having this marking power will also make it hard for oppositions to get out of D50 I think kicking skills are more vital for a midfielder than the contested marking. I'm not sure Curnow is a very good kick. If he is, I agree with you. When more footage of the players comes out, we will be able to make better judgments but from the limited vision I've seen, Curnow doesn't seem to meet the minimum kicking requirements of a top 3 midfielder in the draft. Swampfox 190 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I would expect the Bombers to take Parish Apart from the obvious Midfielder we still need a Tall Forward and Tall Defender Landing one gem out of 3 would be great with anything better highly unlikely in this years draft Quote

He ran 14.5 in the beep test, and a 10:24 time for his 3K run. He's tall, 191 cm and a solid 95 kilos. Another would be Sam Weideman who seems the most imposing out of the key forwards, takes marks, kicks goals, 196cm, 96 kilos, if either of them aren't gone by pick 6 (assuming we don't trade it), we should jump on Curnow, he can play a midfield role as well and looks like a good key forward to run alongside with Hogan 1 Quote
