Morton, Maric, Toumpass, Blease, Strauss all say hi.

That said, we now have a professional recruitment team who no doubt occasionally delve just a little deeper than highlight reels.

No they don't, just look at body shape from the waist down and then compare with Brayshaw and Wines when they were taken. Low centre of gravity, strong through the core and hips, and real competitors.

I am liking this.

Curnow likely to slip

Parish likely to slip

Weidemann testing badly

Who else could we possibly take at 3?? :)

i think the press is just playing with us, changing their predictions all the time just create some excitement and intrigue

let's face it the players haven't changed in the last 3-4 weeks

just the press trying to be the news themselves

don't get too sucked in

Let me put on record for future bumps that I'll be somewhat shocked if we choose this guy in the top 10. And yes, it's only looking at his style on youtube. Nothing more.

Yes, he has that desperate attack on the footy, but he's so stilted and mechanical in his approach. There's zero polish or class. I'll be really disappointed if we pick this guy.

Sorry, Oli.

Sooo, you wanted Toumpas?

Sooo, you wanted Toumpas?

Yep.

And Hogan, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca and back in the day Jones. Hannebery too.

I even wanted Tiptoes.

Your point ?

His handballing seems a bit funny but his kicking is quite fluent.

But where I see class is the way he moves in traffic, the way he knows who is around him and in his marking.

In his AFL highlights video there's some clever tap ons, some really smart gathers, especially the way he gathers and changes direction and a bit of cheek as well.

That's his class. I think the combination of a big strong clearance winner with decent skills who also has the agility and vision to move in to open space and buy time is a pretty special package and why he's rated top 10.

He looks like a scrubber.

I see no class whatsoever.

Happy to eat humble pie in 5 years.

That's based on 3 minutes youtube, which supposedly shows his "highlights".

27 touches and 6 goals in his final game this year as a midfielder. This kid will be ready to go from round 1 and is going to wreck havoc against anyone he is up against.

Leadership ability to, textbook Paul Roos type of player who can break games open on his own boot.

"Oh my forwards arnt kicking goals, [censored] it il do it myself"

He looks like a scrubber.

I see no class whatsoever.

Is it the same footage as on the afl draft machine?

Because if not you should watch it. Sometimes he uses his physical size and hardness, but most of the highlights are his smarts and athleticism.

He might not have the same ability on his left foot or amazing tackling but his highlights show more class than Brayshaw's did last year, and I wouldn't mind 2 Brayshaw's!

No, it wasn't. I've now watched the footage you mention and haven't changed my mind. He just lacks polish and class. Near the goal square a classy mid would have just slotted it on his left foot, but he went back on his right.

O'Meara is as smooth as you get and this guy is boiled lollies.

Whatever floats your boat I suppose, but this guy looks like a better Mitch Robinson.

As I said, I'm happy to look a fool in 5 years.

So do Ollie Wines and Jack Viney

And many other guns

I have watched him several times live this year and the guys ticks all the boxes for class. He has the same similar traits to a luke Parker with his attack on the footy and strong overhead marking.

I know its easy to highlight a player based on youtube clips but having watched him monster blokes i think he has huge upside considering his lack of exposure to the championships this year.

One thing this kid doesn't lack is definitely class.

Fair enough.

And thats why Parish at 3 is a no brainer for me. Personally as much as I'm a huge wrap for Oliver picking him at 3 would be just plain silly.

or another dane swan?

agree he's not polished, but he does know his footy and he's a bit of a bull, at least against u18's

but, i can't see him as a top 10 and he won't be around for our 3rd pick, so i don't think he'll be in our sights

Fair enough.

Your improved attitude has not gone unnoticed. Well done :)

I am starting to get the feeling that we are going to take this bloke at 3..

I'm going to say he could very easily be another Patrick Cripps and I like the look of him a lot, but I've been wrong before.

He reminds me a bit of Nick Vlastuin, who's a good player, but lacking in the silk department.

But these thoughts are on such limited viewing I acknowledge that it's hardly worth commenting on.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
