Don't think Hawthorn will win another flag in the near future.

have to be knocked out of this finals series first. can see them making the Grand final again.

Exactly.

Like Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

is that sarcasm???!

They'll win it all if they get through the prelim.

Can't see anyone beating West Coast.

What club doesn't want a goal kicking mid , Vince is our only one yes for me chase hard

Not at all. The way he accommodated big personalities like Schmeichel, Ronaldo, Ince, Keane, Hughes, Neville, Ferdinand, Evra, Robson and especially Cantona, and moulded them into title winning team after title winning team was one of his biggest strengths.

Cantona used to rock up to club functions in a suit and trainers, timekeeping was questionable, yet Ferguson recognised his genius and what a positive influence he was on the young players coming through and so he indulged him and made him feel special. Because of this Eric began to not only toe the line but led the way in terms of training standards and professionalism. He almost single-handedly won United the title in 96-97.

The man was an absolutely incredible man-manager. Also completely ruthless and was able to make decisions without emotion when he considered that players had become destabilising influences or were past their best.

Melbourne coach Paul Roos categorically ruled out the Demons as a candidate for recruiting Bennell. Roos said Bennell did not fit with "where we are at the moment as a club," adding, "we just wouldn't pursue him through list management."

(excuse if old news, finding it hard to keep track of, there's so much cross/re-posting in the press and social media ...)

A guy claimed to be Nev Jettas best mate just wrote on bigfooty that apparently nev and Roosy have met with Harley and despite reports that we aren't interested expect Bennell to become a demon.

I know its on bigfooty and half the time its a load of [censored] but...

OH FK IT GET HIM TO THE DEES!!

First time poster , long time reader. Spoke to Nev Jettas best mate tonight and he said Nev and Paul Roos have met with Harley Bennell in last couple of days and he is highly likely to be at the dees next year despite reports we aren't interested

I can't wait til September is our most exciting month for what's happening on-field rather than what's potentially happening off it.

Hey ill take it. If I recall correctly the Lumumba whiepers started last year around the same time when he met with Roosy.

History please repeat

Once again, I've heard nothing from the player himself, just as is the case with Prestia. Roos could well have said we're not interested in order to work behind the scenes, quietly and efficiently. Would love Bennell.

Oh dazzles you're such a tease. Its bigfooty but i just want to believe.

No other trade prospect excited me as much as Bennell for speed and being what we need.

man i hope this is true.

Follow up post from old mate:

Basically Nev will be his mentor at the club. His work in this area I know for fact is amazing. Can't comment on Harley's state of mind etc but depending what we have to give up the upside of this deal is massive. Also told Watts will be staying due to lack of interest. Howe gone to Gold Coast. Not relevant but Lewis Jetta will be at West Coast

Only with lumumba there was a photo

man im gonna be the least productive at my work again this trade period...

It was rumoured on facebook that Bennell rates Roos highly.

Howe for Harley?

I want to believe.

Although I wish there was a way someone would put their membership to a site on the line when they post these rumours. If it turns out to be total rubbish then you're gone for good. ISP and all.

A fella can dream.

Howe for Harley?

If we could get Bennell for Howe and our second rounder, we'd be mad not to, surely?

Because of his rap sheet I'm not sure clubs will hand over a first-rounder for him so that might be the best trade GC get offered, and Howe would be a good fit for them.

Wiseblood - you dont seem to get how rumours work... rumours and facts are different. Rumours can come from people who shpuld know and be wrong, or misinterpreted, or be opinion, or be a view that quickly changes with developments.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
