Box Hill Hawks v Casey Scorpions

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

Expectations: Looking forward to the return of Jayden Hunt and the VFL debut of Jake Lovett wearing #46.

Hoping the Scorpions show some more fight this week than they did last week when things were going sour for them.

Dean Terlich has recovered from last week's injury but Max King is out with a hamstring injury and Oscar McDonald has also not recovered from his groin injury. No sign of Dean Kent.

For once - a short walk to the ground for me. After all these games being jealous of AngryAtCasey.

And I will go no matter what the weather.

Unless I'm dragged into the G by some mates.

Lost connection for a while there.

Jamar and Stretch here and ready for the start of the game but no sign of a chopper.

BH 2.1.13 to Casey 0.1.1 at 10 mins into 1st. JKH butchered a set shot to go out on the full. Behind was to Terlich with a long shot in the run.

Scorps under pressure in the backline a lot of the time. Terlo and Riley been in a fair bit of play.

Haws doing a lot of streaming past their own for handball receives on the run. Just scored another goal after a lot of short passes up the wing by Scorps with one weak link causing a turnover.

Don't know any stats but I've seen a lot of involvement from Riley. Jamar has been good since coming on half way through the 1st. But Spencer is the main big guy doing the running to most contests. Nice snap for him to get a goal although Hunt was free for a joe the goose in the goal square (seems to be a specialty of his).

Salem has had a fair bit of it but is not doing anything special to my eye. Not taking the game on, just doing a kick forward and not always a good pass - a couple of up and unders.

Toump hasn't been in the play much. Stretch a little moreso and looks lively.

The centre square is a sticky quagmire from turf wickets making it really hard to get a clean clearance for either side.

Have only noticed Lovett get one possie and he looked composed in traffic, weaving around and getting out a nice handball under pressure.

Bail is doing a lot of running as usual and is consistent but not spectacular.

Jordie doesn't seem to be in play as much as recent weeks.

White has had a few touches but playing in defence and they are getting overrun by waves of Hawks.

Hunt had a spectacular ride on top of a pack in the goal square - Howe-like, but couldn't bring the ball to ground. Haven't seen much of him otherwise, but his usual form is to pick up in the 2nd half.

Hawks with the breeze now 12.9.81 to Scorps 4.4.28.

We are really missing a forward target. So many forward entries this qtr have been marked by a Hawks player virtually unopposed.

Salem has had a lot more this qtr. been really strong in and under packs around the wing.

Another cameo by Lovett was impressive. Good decision making and nice forward pass to get the ball clear out of traffic.

JKH seems to be playing with more dash and intent.

Another goal to Hawks for. 88 to 30 lead.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
