Hogan's Heroes wasn't around then. I'm guessing WYL and his constant crusade against mediocrity. ;)

Really enjoyed listening to this. Well done to those involved. Demonland obviously left a scar on Daniel Ward and whilst i must admit I never frequented Demonland in those days it is good to know that not much has changed.

Sadly my crusade still has merit!!

Alright fess up, who was mean to Sauce?

There was an incident a few years ago about a senior player's father cornering a 'senior' member of Demonland at the MCG to have a crack at him over comments on here about his son.

This is why I always keep my comments respectful. It's okay to be angry or grumpy or not rate a player, but if you wouldn't say it to the player or the player's mother, don't say it on Demonland.

Ive never bagged our players really, i admit i get frustrated in some Gameday threads but they are just passing comments.

Having said that, if a player or a players family get rattled by football related comments on here they need a thicker skin.

H_H the new villain since Range Rover fled, and Stuie started lurking in the shadows only popping out every now and then.

That's interesting, I seem to have seen that somewhere before, can't place where Nasher

As I have said before, a senior player told me that the team are told not to read Demonland because 'it is full of negativity', the mud sticks

It's easy to say that from the comfortable position of never having had every man and his dog having an opinion on your work when they have no idea of the details of it (playing injured, doing as instructed by coach etc). I imagine it's water off a duck's back for most players, but as each individual is different, you can't always predict how people are going to react when the criticism is relentless, excessive and unreasonable.

Don't know about you Nasher, but I usually end up falling about laughing

I dont know if you've realised but following MFC over the last decade or so has been a pretty negative experience.

Anyway good job on the podcast guys, fills in some time on the ride to work.

That's funny. I've been told not to watch Melbourne games because their they're full of negativity too.

EDIT: Just committed the cardinal spelling sin.

I like the podcast, but reading out posts calling spencer a spud and calling a past player a hack is poor form, especially on a podcast where you interview past players.

Nice to hear Andrew Obst has a couple of boys coming through :)

Did he play enough games to qualify for Father Son? I loved Obst as a kid was a very skilled and creative player, was a great addition to our 1990 side.

EDIT - just checked he played 149 games so definitely qualifies.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
