Gee Colin I agree with most of what you say but also support TDI or any other name he may post under.

The written word is as you say a dry exposition of communication which is constantly being dumbed down by new technology.

Unfortunately we are not all as erudite or accurate with finger and brain as we should be. But as Tony Abbott has suggested that we only hold him to account for what he has written and not what he says it would seem that he must certainly be accurate in every written word including tone, emphasis and nuance.

Perception is in the eye or ear of the receiver and this is probably the greatest feature of communication.

If my punctuation or spelling is incorrect and you are uncertain of my meaning a curteous question or comment to clarify is all that is required. I put your above in that context and choose to ignore gratuitous sarcasm which "they" say is the lowest form of wit.

Personally I enjoy it which is why I get so much enjoyment and entertainment from Dland. But poor old TDI must get a tad peeved, even though he does seem to have the resilience of a demon supporter (defeat is character building "they" also so) and does post so much that there is always bound to be contrary opinion expressed poorly or well.

Wot?

I believe it was DazzleDavey36 (or was it JumboReturns?) who summed Saty up best:

'We all appreciate your training reports but do you have to be such a k**b while doing them?'

I have made a pledge not to bait him anymore but I do reserve the right to respond to some of his musings if they are directed at me.

Congratulations another thread derailed and destroyed

That'll get it back on track...

Thanks chap, think I need a bit of help with the typing, seem to be fixated on the comma, don't know how to cure it, a full stop just doesn't do it for me, I tried a colon, but at my age, that is just asking for trouble

semicolon; problem solved.

Think of it as the equivalent of nicotine gum to make the transition from comma to full stop.

Jack Fitzpatrick, needs to play a few games in the seniors this year at the very least or he is probably on his way out i'd say.

He was given a lot of opportunity early last year and really struggled, I think he averaged around 5 possessions a game...

Getting concussed certainly didn't help, he averages just over a goal a game, not a bad return for a forward, he is fully aware this is his make or break year

His start to the year was terrible but he really did show alot towards the end of the year.

Sorry mate, but you lost me at "Tony Abbott ... "

That is a damning read.

Won't name names, except for Hannabal/Benny. For someone so far up his own backside, it's remarkable how often he got it wrong. He no doubt claims over on BF that he always knew Jones would be a gun :)

And he will also be decrying the media bias against Tony Abbott because his idol Andrew Bolt told him that was so.

I'm not sure what everyone else thinks, but I would think 4 years on the list (barring no serious injury) should be enough time to show something decent, something postive they can play AFL at a decent level. Taller guys take a bit longer generally.

Tyson comes in after not much AFL experience , bugger all knowledge of our game plan(s) new coach ,team mates and turns out to be one of our best players in 2014. If he can do it, there is no excuse, bar, not up to it, for the borderline players. We waited yrs for Col to get that one good season under his belt, Newton was on the list longer than most, to name a couple. Now we need to be a bit more brutal. More recently Tappy, we all hoped he would get over his injury woes.

I would also hope the days of the big culls are over, we pick and chose who doesnt look like being able to go to another level, then shop around for an upgrade. The players I named have been around for awhile, so far have been good to average. Jetta on the other hand, proved with hard work its possible to turn it around.

I absolutely agree that we need to lift the bar on expectations of player performance, but Tyson isn't the best reference point. He was a Pick 3. He isn't the benchmark for players to adapt and perform. Not many have his natural ability.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
