I have seen this kid play over the last two years and I am very surprised he isn't talked about a potential draft option. Talk is that he may go 3rd round to rookie.

Nick is a big midfielder with a big frame on him who has a big left foot as well. Can win big numbers of the ball in the midfield and can influence a game with some big clearances.

I would be absolutely stoked if we got him at pick 40. Would bet every dollar you could almost pencil him in for a round 1 game alongside Tyson and Brayshaw he is seriously ready!

Captained the bushies this year too and already has tasted VFL action as well.

The in-and-under midfielder got better as the TAC Cup season wore on and capped his campaign with a stellar 30-disposal, 10 clearance performance against Angus Brayshaw's Sandringham Dragons in a losing elimination final. Mellington is a strong left-foot kick, good decision-maker and prolific ball-winner. After overcoming illness early in the year, he finished like a steam train, averaging 25 disposals and six clearances over the final five games for the Bushrangers.

What's his pace like? Thumping left-foot kick.

Reasonable. I mean he has no problem getting to the contest. Id probably put him in the same basket as Tyson in terms of pace.

Would it hurt for me to send Jason Taylor or Todd Viney an email about this kid?? Highlights aswell.

Thanks for pointing him out DD. Thought I was watching a blonde haired Dom Tyson with the number 12, thumping left etc.

Honestly, if a kid like this is touted as a draft smokey and is available at picks 40 and 53, and we forego these picks because we hold onto spuds like Tapscott and Evans, I will spew.

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft.     Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock for the final week of training for the 1st to 4th Years until they are joined by the rest of the senior squad for Preseason Training Camp in Mansfield next week.     A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players.
