Off feild stuff aside (regarding Garlett and Lamumba)

If we can pick up Frost, Harry o & Garlett without giving up any high picks (keep 2 & 3 at least) that isnt' a bad offseason IMO

A ready to go KPP to replace Frawley, a rebounding Half back and another forward to assist big hoges, Dawes plus two pretty good kids....

I'd be content with that - some experience and talent

Don't forget the we also get Billy Stretch!

I think Garlett has to be swapped for one of our unwanted players or a late pick. Somehow in the MC deal or another deal we need to get picks to cover HL and Frost. I would still look at Merrett if he could be swapped for an unwanted player or another late pick or extra pick from some deal.

I am not thrilled ablout Garlett but he could be useful if he learns to defend.

Carlton should not be expecting much for a player who has fallen out of favour with the coach..

Trade radio boys saying that Collingwood keen to explore Treloar option if Beams deal with Brisbane can’t be resolved.

Barrett reckons GWS had to fight pretty hard to prevent leaving for home once and face a massive battle to keep him at the end of 2015.

Let’s get in on this!

The silence is deafening from us in securing an elite midfielder. Got no doubt we've got something cooked up with GWS. They have all the talent just waiting to be pillaged by other clubs.

Yep, don't think anyone honestly believes that little interview GWS (AKA someone with media connections at the AFL) cooked up between Treloar and his childhood hero The Rock was anything more than an embarrassing attempt at convincing him to stay in Sydney.

So do GCS to be fair. At least GWS have stability in that they've currently got a coach, it's just they're making no real inroads on the field. I think both clubs are chock-full of potential elite midfielders that either team might give up to get a high pick. If Dangerfield doesn't eventuate, I expect these are the two teams we'll look to deal with.

Gold Coast have the Sun, beach, theme parks, GWS have Rooty Hill RSL and in an area that no one cares, you may as well be playing VFL in front of 2500 people.

This is bulllshit! Pies don't want Labamba yet they want our second rounder? Get [censored]! We want Clark, yet Geelong want to pay unders? Pies want to pay less for Greenwood than their willing to take for an unwanted player? We haven't even had a crack at Greenwood?

Don't make me walk from the game!

This is the reason free agency was brought in. So many moves are delayed because other clubs don't come to the party.

I actually would like us to keep picks 2 & 3. Sure trade off all our other picks for experienced players, Lumumba and Garlett is a good start, but I'd like the club to back themselves by getting two very good picks into our system and trust the Roos/Goodwin team to develop them properly. Whatever combination of Petracca/Brayshaw/McCartin.

Jono O Rourke has nominated Hawthorn as preferred destination WTF ???

Surely this free agency [censored] where an excellent player from a low club can step into a premiership club must be stopped. Total garbage!

Kid thats played 2 seasons gets to nominate the club he goes to, and chooses the premiers

Why do we need free agency then?

Unbelievable

He isn't a free agent. He can nominate all he likes but Hawks have to satisfy GWS demands. I think he still has a year to go on his contract so they can refuse to trade him at all. If he is out of contract then the only other option if he genuinely wants to leave and GWS wont trade is to march into the draft and take his luck .

I dont understand the angst over nominating a club - it means Jack [censored] to the club trading except maybe they will entertain that clubs offer first. The club still has the whip hand as opposed to free agency.

Player has to agree to the trade.

Pretty soon we'll have kids in the NAB AFL draft nominating where they want to go too. They have too much power. WTF is with Howlett saying if Hirdy goes so does he? See what happens when you give these meat heads an inch with AFLPA? The power goes to their precious little heads.

Sounds like the kid is made of the right stuff... loves a challenge and hard work... wait hang on.

Good luck to Hawthorn, no way will they satisfy GWS in a trade unless they're willing to part with a very good player.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
