GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Featured Replies

Clark for Josh Walker anyone? Looks reasonable from what I've seen him and surely Clark will be taking his spot

don't know him? Nathan Vardy? whats James Toohey like, anyone?

Why didn't Dunn tell us why the hell Clark wants out, rather than pot the supporters who, if we don't like the club anymore there is no club. This whole saga is one giant circle jerk, with no one knowing what we are jerking over! Every one has leads on it, I like the one involving Clark on a grassy knoll wearing a collinder on his head. But I am tired of not know what is the reason for our former spear head to wanting to leave our club. If it was beacause our boot studder was not pretty enough, then okay. But if he want to go to a team that is in the top 4 because red and blue make him sad well, Funk me that is softer than western star spreaderbull-sh!te butter. I just want answers...

On SEN, The Ox believes Clark may be a straight swap for Travis Varcoe - outside speed with some polish. Thoughts?

aim a bit higher me thinks... if not, then younger for the long term.

From the FB news item:

Lynden Jerkle Dunn: Some of the comments on here are sickening! It is disappointing that Mitch will be pursuing his AFL career at another club and yes I too am a little disgruntled at the decision. In saying that, I wouldn't wish what happened to Mitch and happens to so many others day in and day out upon anybody. I'm so glad he is well enough to try and pursue his dream of playing footy at the elite level and I will always think of him as a mate. Some comments especially from some demon faithful are distasteful and cowardly but I suppose so long as the few "Keyboard Warriors" have there say and hide behind there screens then life will go on. All the best brother!

Kind of disappointing that he would bag out his own supporters yet stick up for someone leaving the club, I love Dunny, but i completely disagree with him on this, barely anyone was bagging him out it was more people being left disappointed that he left us like that. Whether it's his mate or not, I remember on the weekend in the Grand final, some of the Hawthorn players who are best mates with Buddy still gave it too him, including Gibson who knocked him over in front of the supporters to show where his heart lies. Not angry at Dunn, but very disappointed, especially considering that he got it wrong. Demon supporters are allowed to voice their opinions on him leaving, barely anyone said anything about his depression, and honestly, 6 months for someones depression to clear up is pretty fast, my father had it and had it for a while.

I have no issue with what Garlo had to say about Frawley and I'm surprised that anyone would.

What's he meant to say exactly? "I spit on him and his grave!!". They're close mates and that friendship extends beyond football. Get real.

If Chip doesn't want to be here, so be it. Garlo has utmost confidence with where the club is going. Most of us do too. That's what matters.

Spot on P.

Glad to read a bit of common sense for once instead of the brainless half witted comments pushed around here.

News flash, Clark will be comfortably in their 22, so we should expect compensation that is also comfortably in their 22.

or the potential to be this. or a pick we can on-trade,,, or a young player with 1.5 - 2yrs work into him.

That is a strange analogy re Gibson on Buddy. I doubt Dunn will be giving Clark a cuddle if they are matched up on the field.

I'm absolutely filthy at Clark and Dunn's words don't change that. His perspective however, on face value, suggests that Clark's issues are legit. And like it or not, he would be better informed than anyone here. His view shouldn't be dismissed.

..or players are human just like you and me, with human feelings and emotions. I'd guess Dunny has more of an insight into Clark's circumstances than you or I...

very true, & they should also think of us & play for us as well.... very little is given back to the supporters.

One of the Scott brothers impressed me earlier this year (believe it or not ) when he said that players don't sacrifice anything to play AFL footy, but they invest in their careers. I am not sure that many players understand their privileged position, which often comes through in comments like this.

exactly R & Bb... very little is given back to ordinary supporters, but much is given both ways between corporates & players. the little guys just get walked past.

I never once said that he wasn't depressed, and if he is more informed than us, why not share that with the people that pay his wages? Instead of bagging out upset supporters. Pretty disappointing.

This shows a fairly overdeveloped sense of what you think you are entitled to as a simple club member.

Big difference between "voicing your opinion" and resorting to offensive abuse.

Dunn wasn't commenting on what was expressed - which he even went so far as to support - but the way it was expressed.

I agree it's not a great look to be berating supporters and he probably should've steered clear altogether. But the fact he felt compelled to do so is interesting, I think. It may have just been a case of him taking umbrage with comments downplaying depression. Or maybe he really wanted to defend Clark and his situation. Hard to say.

What does appear clear is that Dunny sees this as black and white, or at least that's what he is portraying.

Most of us are seeing a lot of grey and trying to make sense of it without Clark looking like a snake, and coming up short.

Unfortunately for the club to come out and say what everyone is thinking would lead to a massive backlash. Not worth it. Trade him for what we can get and move on. Hope that he doesn't turn out to be as good as we know he can be. Hopefully the club can look back and say 'we dodged a bullet there'.

Needs a fresh start away from Melbourne... Shockingly not at St Kilda or Western Bulldogs. How convenient.

Did Dunn help pay for Clark's ridiculous 13 game (?) salary through membership, merchandise, donations, raffles, game attendance etc. like the rest of us?
Then that's fine, he is entitled to snarl at at Mitch's detractors. Oh wait...what?

The Cats would be hoping that Clark fits straight into their starting 22. In fact, you'd reckon that they'd be looking at playing him as a KPF for all of their games (ongoing) He wouldn't be going there as a depth player (not in their eyes anyway)

So, they should pay a fair price and the hierarchy at Melbourne should know what that price is. We need to drive a hard bargain and not with a view of offloading someone that we may not necessarily want.

It's a tricky one given his history but their 2nd round draft pick doesn't seem to be enough whereas their 1st round draft pick might be off limits. Their 1st round draft pick should be what we're aiming at as a sort of watered down ambit claim. Varcoe might be worth a punt if he's offered.

This shows a fairly overdeveloped sense of what you think you are entitled to as a simple club member.

So first it's the Facebook page, and now it's Demonland, when will it be enough for you Dunny?

Hahahahaha

Haha. Wow. Not quite - I would never wear a mo like he did. But seriously, do you think your employer is entitled to know everything about you just because they pay your wages? And that is an even more direct relationship than club member to club player.

I think supporters should be told a bit more than what we're being told if someone has more insight on it.

It is an interesting one at least.

It seems like all the rumors and speculation is directed towards MC doing something irresponsible, causing instability in his life and provoking a more serious case of depression that could not be managed whilst playing. But who knows, maybe it is all speculation.

MFC don't seem to be too upset with him leaving, every press conference and comment is painted with a very carefree attitude towards his departure. This further points towards an irresponsible act in his life (that may include something or someone at the FC) and the MFC wanting him out. Again, there are no facts to support this yet.

MFC have respected him, taken care of him (and his family), and more importantly, kept their mouth shut. If MC does not come out after the deal has been done and explains why he couldnt stay at the MFC, then we have a reason to be outraged and give him a '$cully like' reception everytime we see him.

Until then, bite your tongue 'landers, show some respect to a once much loved demon, wait a few weeks, then unleash hell on a potentially very cowardly man.

Great post AODees, definitely going to follow you on this.

On what basis?

Well, Tom Scully will be relieved. Someone else has finally left the club on worse terms than him.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
