Post Match Masochism - Round 21

We're all in the same boat there's no point turning on each other to.take out our anger and frustration. I'll sign up again next year because I'm a tragic but I can't really knock those who are fed up and just can't be bothered anymore. At some point this club has to start showing something to prevent people turning their backs. It's one thing to not give members reward for their support, it's another to completely repel them through your heartless and pathetic performances.

Yep, true. Apologies Moonshadow - just really low tonight and had a gutful. come October of course I'll sign up - hope is a heartless b**ch.

To those players who are trying to establish themselves on an AFL list...

Salem... I need more than that!

Kent... One or two shots on gaol each game is not enough!

Michie... This club gave you a lifeline!

Barry... Get your hands on the ball!

Gawn... hit the ball to an MFC player!

What was wrong with his game today? He played his 4th game today had the 3rd highest possessions today (22) at about 80% efficiency and 4 of the 50 odd tackles. We are being let down by the poor skills level that in my opinion has not improved. I also think that there are a lot of players that are selfish, Kent burning the free forward in the 3rd quarter was a prime example. Frawley and Dawes were pitiful today. The fact is that Roos has had very little impact this year despite the addition of Vince and Cross. Perhaps he should have Tammy do a bit of work on the players. She is on the payroll.

When I read these words from Bernie Vince's interview, I just knew we were in BIG trouble:

"MIDFIELDER Bernie Vince says there is no chance the Giants will win their third consecutive match against the Demons this round.

An adamant Vince said his side was simply “not going to let it happen” and it would not drop its second match of the season to GWS."

You are absolutely right. Particularly Essendrug who missed the most incredibly easy shots from 10m out directly in front. This team is shot mentally and does not have the skills. The seconds are a worry too (no depth). Big turnover of players called for plus more help from the AFL unfortunately.

Please.

Don't encourage him, he's got no idea.

Anyone who thinks we haven't improved is kidding themselves.

We were disgusting today, but can be easily turned around in the off season to improve more next year.

I can't believe i'm flying to Perth to watch us next weekend. Today was Neeld like.

Best you take a detour south and enjoy the wine and tranquility.

To all these people saying they are ripping up their membership. All I can say is pic or it didnt happen and your all talk.

I want to think you are right. I reckon my expectations with the appointment of Roos were way out of the realms of what is achievable in one year and want to believe that today was an aberration and that another pre season with a very focused effort improving skills and attacking footy will see an improvement on field next year. But it is getting hard. Roos' plan just does not seem to lead to goals and these still determine wins. Be interesting next week. The eagurls beat us by 93 in rnd 3. Next week will give us a decent comparison to say just how much we have improved.

Frawley 4 pathetic kicks. His meant to be a leader of the team and Grimes got more touches in half a game. I couldnt give a [censored] if Frawley goes and we get nothing for him. At his current rate he will be lucky not to be delisted.

A fan has passing interest. A supporter puts $ behind their interest, eg, membership. Anyone can cut up their 2014 membership once the home games are finished. Big deal. Like throwing away the stubby after drinking the beer.

do you really think i cut up my membership just because the home games are over or because im sick of putting up with years upon years of failure?. also quit with trying to seperate "fans" from "supporters" theres people out there that would love to spend money supporting this club but cant afford it. I myself nearly had to pull the plug last year due to financial difficulties does that mean i would love the club any less? I know a lot of "fans" i'd take to the trenches before i took a "supporter" like you

Can't believe the Hun gave Kent our best player. His disposal was disgusting.

Is that the truth or did you read it in the Herald Sun. The reporter probably left at half time and used the DT points.

Very well said Dr

Buy a 3 game membership. It's less than $1 a week

disposal was shocking cringe every time he gets the ball but he has few mates in that area roos should play watts chb and make him accountable he is tall and fast good kick, never seems to use his pace, watch old gary hardeman tapes

I just want to apologise to my children who are 13 and 16 , that they have not had even one decent year to enjoy footy and be proud to be Melbourne supporters. I'm sorry you had to follow this disgrace of a club, and if only I could turn back time I would have myself changed to a Hawthorn or Geelong when you were still babies.

Calling Human Services Victoria!

"is that the truth or did you read it in the Herald Sun". The reporter probably left at half time and just used the dream team points is my guess.

I thought Michie tried his guts out today. I saw numerous of times sprinting hard to chase a opponent while others jogged.

His kicking skills are top notch. He won't make it as a footballer for that.

DE listed as 63% ... surprised it was even that high.

Like his hustle and bustle, but for the moment at least, plays dumb football. Not Robinson Crusoe though. The difference to what happens when Jetta gets the ball, to what happens with half the others, is just night and day. Many of them just don't seem to have a feel for what's going to happen upfield where they're kicking to.

Can anyone summarize what Roos said in post match presser?

Our players are just dumb footballers! It's a simple game footy. Skill level is vfl level. At best! I've said all year we don't play with any skill. Everything is a hack attempt to win.

Is that a typo? Would have thought it is exactly what is needed. He also has very fast hands. His HB is very good. I think he is still a bit over awed. A very quiet bloke that takes a bit to come out of his shell.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
