Jesse Hogan ~ new 2 year deal

Featured Replies

Jesse, in his presser flagged the idea of coming back via vfl in an orderly manner and hopefully on the paddock before the eos.

Not sure why you wouldnt play one of your greatest assets if fit

All we need for Jessie now is a long-term love interest from Melbourne.

$1,000,000 deal and he played 0 AFL games. Hope he worth it.

Even if he wasn't worth it the deal finishes in 3 years time. It's not as if he is on 1 mill a year for the next 5 years. It's a fair deal, reflective of his potential and the FA market. We need to get used to that.

Think of it as a "F-off WA clubs" premium. I'm more than comfortable with it.

And it is not like we don't know what we are getting - he dominated the VFL as an 18 year old.

I don't understand why supporters are so hung up on how much we are paying him.

If he left, it would have been to an even bigger pay packet from another club and you would be whinging about him leaving even more...

Just a mild case of the Syndrome. It's fine.

Actually I saw Jesse at the Bulldogs match with a very attractive young female companion in tow. Either that or she was stalking him, so hard to tell these days.

Does being a good VFL player mean you will make it at AFL level?

Not sure you been listen to Roos lately if you have that belief.

he acquitted himself rather well in his NAB outings also... just saying

no guarantees in this world but as a 17 year old he went to Casey won the goal kicking and B&F on limited games. Looked great in the games he played. He looks a class above that competition at his young age.

If you said to Roos "Hogan dominating the VFL as a teenager means nothing" - what do you think he would say?

The last thing you would want to do is subject him to Casey, get him fit and play him as a sub in a few games.

I think this is whats been discussed with him...not his idea per se.

He may well be a champion but I will with hold my judgement one way or the other until he plays real AFL games and not the NAB cup. I still remember when Carton won the pre season cup and finished last on the ladder for the regular season.

Super stuff Mr. Positivity. A young bloke, who is a huge part of our future, signs a new deal and there are still some who have to bring the tone down.

I bet he will be the most underpaid player in the AFL in 2017

And if we didnt give him this money now someone else would have anyway

LOL you may be right HH.

But only time will tell if its a good investment or not.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
