GAMEDAY - Round 8

Featured Replies

All MFC asks from Jack Watts is effort and intent.

It would appear that is too much for Jack.

Drop this precious princess back to Casey FFS.

He's perhaps the worst wet-weather player I've ever seen. Just has no physical presence, and whenever it's the slightest bit dewy he gives us next to nothing.

Bulldogs do not have one competent key position player at either end of the ground. Morris is a good player, but not big enough for the roles he's being asked to do. It would like us having Col Garland as our only good defender without the help of Frawley, McDonald et al. Regardless of the outcome tonight I'd be really worried if I were a Bulldogs fan.

I love how Dean Terlich hits the footy.

Also, Nathan Jones trying to tackle even when he is laying on his back.

Jones and Viney play desperate.

Oh my JKH!!

Great kick JKH!

JKH slots a tricky goal, which is just about the only thing he has done tonight.

I'm surprised he's been so rarely sighted. It seems like tonight is ideal conditions for a player like him.

He is great in our forward line

I shake my head in disbelief when I watch Dommy T, we are SO lucky to have this kid.

What a freak of nature, composed, poised, classy and uses it well.. He is everything Tom Scully isn't.

Jack Watts desperately drags his opponent down and saves a certain goal. That's what we like to see.

He is a left footer. Do any lefties have a right?

I do, but I worked my arse off to get it.

Well done Jack Watts

Saved a certain goal with that chase and tackle

Jonesy needs a few boys to body up on picken.

After last week's effort, the umpiring has been really good tonight. Let the game go and things will sort themselves out.

I kind of can't believe we're down at half time. We've dominated this game all night.

If jones can break this tag it's game over, they are a man down I expect to win this now

That was the most important tackle Watts has laid.

Frustrating first half, we've had the better of most area but some very soft goals and poor errors have given the dogs the lead. We're playing the game on our terms but just not getting reward for it.

We are in a very good position given it looks like the dogs are down a rotation and I think out forwards can stretch their defence but there's plenty of work to be done.

Second half, Jones, Vince, Viney have to take control of the mid field or we are going to struggle. The forward line can function if the ball is delivered.

Everytime I see Paul Roos looking on I feel so confident.......

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
