GAME DAY - ROUND 1

Waiting on the edge of what will either be mind numbing happiness or mind numbing depression! oh the joys of supporting the Dees!

Worried.

Yet hopeful and excited at the same time

No win at Etihad since '07

No win against St Kilda since '06 finals

No win in round one since '06.

Fair to say it will be party time IF we can pull it off. If the rot continues, Demonland will not be a place to visit for a good week or so. Maybe more

Late money for St Kilda. Into $2.02 with TAB, $2.25 with Sportsbet.

Just watching us last year, our midfield only ever beat expansion teams because it was so light on, we now have a solid AFL standard midfield against their kids, we SHOULD win easy.

I know we only expect 4 or 5 wins this year against lower tier teams, but I've been pleasantly surprised by some thoroughly average performances by supposed finals contenders so far this round. Richmond, Colonwood and Norf have all underwhelmed. I think we'll have a clearer idea of our progress in 6 hours.

Does having a mcc or a demon membership help your way into the game or just buy a ticket

Yeah...So like HOWE are we favourites again?????????

if we win well tonight and the boys are full of confidence i have no doubt we are capable of seriously pushing Carlton, GWS and GC, other side of the coin is if we lose tonight we could be in for a very long season

I think I saw something about a 16 game membership getting you in, but I can't be sure because I wasn't paying that much attention.

Tonight's really make or break for this club. I know it shouldn't be but we need a win so desperately for motivation, membership and financial stability. A lot rides on this.

Last year I was really pumped, this year I'm nervous. We really need to win this, for our confidence, for the fence sitting fans, for the confidence it'll give them that the change has come.

I'm really not going into the game with expectations, I'm just going to sit back and watch it unfold!

Sweet baby Jesus. $30 for parking at this joint? Now I know why I usually catch the train

Lions giving the hawks abit of a scare atm although i don't think the Hawks have gone out of first gear yet, just cruising really.

Big turnout already by the Demon army. Good to see a see of red and blue behind the goals

Roosy.

ROOSY!?!?!?!?

don't worry about this fence sitter, 10 days time I'll be able to afford mine.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

  • GAMEDAY: St. Kilda

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
