The Reverend 1,736 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ian Dury had many reasons to be cheerful. Let's see if we can get a song out Demonlanders' feelings about the Dees as we enter into a new era of hopefulness. Maybe someone can take the ideas and put them to music. I'll start us off - feel free to add to the list: Paul Roos - another level Jesse Hogan - so much to offer A fit Mitch Clark Peter Jackson - very clever A kind fixture...
old dee 24,088 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Essendon continues to hog all the AFL bad news!

The Reverend 1,736 Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Sex and drugs and rock and roll? Maybe that's why OD can't remember.
old dee 24,088 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Maybe that's why OD can't remember. Can't blame the sex bit Reverend however red wine and single malt could easily be to blame!
The Reverend 1,736 Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Can't blame the sex bit Reverend however red wine and single malt could easily be to blame! Both are perfectly acceptable and have served to give me a much more cheerful outlook on life. Having said that I tried some Monkey Shoulder a week or so ago and was pleasantly surprised that a blended whisky could actually taste that good. Apparently it's blended from just three malts. A good economical alternative when the pension cheque is late. Reasons to be cheerful.
dpositive 1,838 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Saw the Blockheads back in the late 70's. Superb band. One of the most under rated bands of the time Drury himself with a medical condition cant remember what it was was really extraordinary He took punk rock into rap years before the term had been invented. His many classic songs were littered with complex poetic structures about ordinary topics but with a sharp sociological insight I was equally impressed by and still am a fan of Tom Waites who has similar basics with his eclectic descriptive phrases.I always thought Waites lyrics were to music as Salvatore Dali was to art. Both men Drury and Waites had an ability to attract and inspire excellent musicians to produce outstanding music to accompany their apparently limited vocal range.
