R.I.P. Demonology

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

My apologies for not sharing this with you earlier, but I suppose it is better late than never; and while I'm at it, I am very sorry for my long absence from the site. I hope this post will explain both!

As some of you may remember my health has been on the slide for some time. I finally have had a diagnosis after all this time. I have multiple sclerosis.

The diagnosis has cleared a lot of issues up for me. In this case, my increased inability to maintain Demonology.

A stage in the illness came at an unfortunate time; when I was rewriting the site to run on the I.S.P.s servers, which no longer supported the language in which I had written the it. Sadly I lost the ability to write code. I could not understand why. Now I do. Consequently much of the original functionality an all of my planned improvements were not completed.

I had been feeling guilty for letting you all down, but there was nothing I could do about it. However hard I tried.

It was not long after my diagnosis (which was in May/June) that Gareth approached me, via some people who I know quite well and whose judgement I trust.

Needless to say, it was with great relief that I passed the site over to Gareth.

I understand there has been some confusion and consequently come conflict regarding the new management of the site. I've not read the related posts and at this stage am not up to delving into the issue.

All I can do is ask that you take Gareth's posts in good faith an be aware that he has my support.

On a more personal note, I have just had my first treatment for multiple sclerosis and am hopeful of regaining some of the cognitive functionality I lost. My pain medication has also been increased which has helped a great deal. Who knows, I may even be able to get to a game of footy next year!

Kind regards

Tim Stanes

This was thrown up on Ology. If its true he has stuffed up big time...

That was definitely Tim.

Carbon copy of what we spoke about earlier today.

How will the monkeys make money?

Well, for a start they have disgruntled demonology members making offers to buy the site for twice what they paid, in order to save something they obviously love.

Either way, if you don't care, push off.

Go troll the Facebook page, stuie.

You're quite good at that.

Still waiting for you to tell me this Dr Evil's plan on making one million dollars from that trash can free internet forum....

It's clear you have no idea how commerce on the Internet works, so maybe leave it. However, no-one mentioned millions. Except you.

I'm at a loss to understand why you keep opening this thread, yet alone contributing to it. One post would have sufficed to express your opinion.

Because, like whoey, Stuie (they rhyme, don't they) likes people to bite.

I think he was regularly ignored as a child, and then discovered the internet - where, by being continually annoying and insulting, he is finally noticed.

Obviously Demonology is a small bickies site, but this is an interesting read nonetheless:

Just ignore me and resume panic.

stuie if you don't give a rats about ology why do you keep posting and repeating yourself

do everyone a favour and don't post on this thread

you are becoming a serial troll

My thoughts exactly Chook.

If you don't like it nor understand it, then resume your annoying behavior on other threads and continue with your childish video clips.

Or even better, head over and sign up, you'll be right at home with the current hierarchy.

All of this happened while I was not online and my head in MBA books over the weekend.

It is a sad day(s). Just so you all know, my admin rights have been removed and hence can not do anything about this.

Demonology was fun while it lasted, it seems this bloke has taken advantage of an ill man and we will just have to accept that demonology as it was will not likely exist again.

Thanks for all of the good discussion to the regulars!

Hello Demonland,

I've been a member of 'Ology for years but have always disliked the in-fighting and in-jokes. It now appears that the site has no viable future.

Looking forward to joining actual football discussions now.

Cheers,

The Brooding Fan

you may be right RG,but the writing styles are remarkably similiar over a long period of time.

I have never questioned Satyr's loyalty to the club. He is too loyal in my opinion.

He would still be blindly supporting Schwab and the previous board if the hadn't been removed.

Dr Who is just a social nightmare..he was here last summer.

Sorry WYL, it is post season, I actually have a life outside of footy, nothing much going on here except theoreticals, you support the Club incumbents at that time, it was Schwab, I understoond why he was sacked, but I have actually let it go...unlike some

I get the feeling that Saty finally realized that a lot of what he was getting fed was BS. I say that sincerely and as RGRS knows him personally, perhaps he can probably confirm or deny this. I think the last of his last 'provocative' posts came just before Neeld got the sack. That presser might have opened his eyes a bit, especially the bit when PJ called us a 'drag on the competition'. There was no point going on with the 'everything is awesome' schtick anymore as even he would have realized he would have just looked like a dill.

Provocative..........if some posters on here weren't so gullible, I wouldn't have half the fun I have........... been busy with my life so haven't posted so much, daughter got married so that took precedence, now have rugby league loving son-in-law who managed to drop MFC reference into his speech so I can forgive him

I'll start positng more often when the hand wringing starts again just after the Draft....

Does Tim realise that none of the Demonology members support his decision? Does he realise he has been wrongfully tricked by a pair of [censored]?

So glad you supported Schwab & Co after 186 Satr considering you were inside the coalface.

Don't hurry back. We will survive.

WTF -- have the brothers taken over here too? What kind of ridiculous censorship is this to blank out '[censored]'?

Stick a fork in me. I'm done.

[CENSORED]

If we win a flag and can't rejoice on Demonland, is it really even worth winning?

If we win a flag, posters on Demonland will be complaining the margin wasn't high enough.

If you are happy for me to pass over your IP Address if we get sued for your libelous accusations then I will uncensor your posts.

"allegedly" libellous accusations :) :)

but your point is completely valid

So glad you supported Schwab & Co after 186 Satr considering you were inside the coalface.

Let it go WYL, he's gone...........I am glad you will survive, it is only a footy board, it's not as if it matters.......

Is looks to me as a power binge to monopolize the MFC supporter media market. In their hands they have their own Website, facebook, twitter, Youtube. (All D2D) 'Ology wasnt in their liking of their morals, and the rest is history.

You may take their forum but you cant take their freedom. (I'm sure William Wallace would agree)

Anyway, I'm off to slag of some underperforming players. in a polite and nice way.

It's clear you have no idea how commerce on the Internet works, so maybe leave it. However, no-one mentioned millions. Except you.

Actually, if you've read the thread you will see it was mentioned the new owner had a goal to make a million dollars.

I do have e-commerce experience actually, but a free internet forum is not e-commerce. But please explain to me how a free internet forum goes from making $0 to big bucks at the change of ownership? Clicks do NOT equal dollars.

The reason I keep posting is because STILL no has explained to me how this sinister evil genius is going to make heaps of money and ruin MFC by taking over a rubbish internet forum.

LOL... How much do you think that site is actually worth? Double of nothing is nothing.

I dont think people who cared and invested time in the site give a toss what your point is Stuie. Do you even have to ruin this thread with your non stop rubbish, please spare us

Still waiting for you to tell me this Dr Evil's plan on making one million dollars from that trash can free internet forum....

Stuie why do you have so much interest in this, I've posted a few times but that's maybe because I was, up until 4 or so years ago, a regular poster. Let me assure you if I hadn't posted on there I wouldn't even be bothered opening this thread more than once.

What's you problem, these guys have lost their home, the place they go to all the time to speak to their mates about the Dees so perhaps a little bit of understanding might be in order. Ology is not everyone's cup of tea but it means a lot to those that regularly post/read there.

Button up.

Didn't post as Mikey on Ology by any chance, Stuie?

Similiar levels of.... well everything actually.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
