So, the finals are here. Melbourne isn't there but we shall all dream Port Adelaide dreams until February 2014

8 teams left, and as always the top 4 is where it's at if you want to win the flag; top 2 if you're a punter.

So, will it be as straight forward as it seems - Hawks & Cats on the last Saturday - or is there still some things to be played out....

If the Swans beat Hawthorn, can Richmond continue there domination of the Hawks and knock them out in straight sets?

Are Fremantle the real deal?

Can the Pies get their act together?

Discuss, update, add to, or dismiss :)

Tipping freo to expose the cats lack of rucks and get up

Would be great to see the cats done at the cattery.

Cant't believe a 55,000 seat stadium is left empty this week.

Means another home game will be sacrificed to there next year.

Poor form AFL.

I think it's great. Stuff Freo. With Balafntyne and Crowley I hope they never win flags

Totally agree

Sorry Dad!

i'd love to see freo get up against the Cats. 1) because i can't stand the cats and 2) i've always had a bit of a soft spot for Freo, even if they do have ballantyne and crowley in their team. That being said this is how i think it will all pan out:

Fisrt wk

1st qualifying final - Hawks vs Swans

hawks by 20

1st elimination final - Tigers vs Blues

tigers by 35

2nd elimination final - Pies vs Power

Pies by 15

2nd qualifying final - cats vs Freo

Cats by 17

2nd wk

1st semifinal - Swans vs Tigers

swans by 25

2nd semifinal - Freo vs pies

Freo by 28

3rd wk

1st preliminary final - hawks vs freo

hawks by 13

2nd preliminary final - cats vs swans

swans by 15

4th wk

Grandfinal - hawks vs swans

hawks by 8

pretty much as the ladder finished, but i couldn't bear to have geelong make the grand final

God i hope the Hawks get done. For my entire life since i started following football (1971) they have been thumping everyone every year. (Give or take 2-3) but you get my point.

A team that wears waste product must be stopped from winning the grail.

We the MFC must dethrone them as they did to us back when EJ Holdens were the benchmark of motoring excellence. (A f$&@ing long time ago...)

Absolutely disgraceful umpiring so far. Unbelievably biased towards Geelong, of course. Simonds stadium is a hole

Okay, this is potentially the worst umpiring performance I've ever seen. Disgusting

umpiring a total disgrace!

Umpire 28 has basically gifted the Cats 3 goals. Even the last goal by Pods was umpire influenced as Christensen got a free and played on and scored a point. Umpire brings it back and Pods gets one in a pack from the extra kick.

That is just basic. The player chose to play on and scored and then he gets another kick.

Holding the ball every time freo had it and not once against the cats.

Umpire 28 talks to Cats players when he bounces the ball and soon after pays them a free. He is not a finals umpire.

Freo doesn't have to beat Simonds Stadium they have to beat the 3 umps as well as the Cats.

how can you go for freo? Hope they get smashed.

Because I cannot stand Geelong supporters, especially down at that god-forsaken place. Lived in Geelong for a while too, trust me, they're insufferable

I hope they win. I am sick of Cats and Hawks.

Love to see a Freo v Port GF. Won't happen of course.

Fingers crossed for a Fremantle win. Would top this weekend off, football-wise.

Fremantle winning puts them in the GF, given they're highly unlikely to lose a home preliminary final. It also sends Geelong into Hawthorn's side of the draw, which will hopefully lead to a Hawthorn-Geelong preliminary final, good for a few reasons (one of the two teams has to lose before the GF, and it might knock Hawthorn out of contention for a flag they should have won by now).

But most of all, I want to see Fremantle win the premiership, and a home preliminary final helps them get there.

Also, I can't stand Geelong.

And Tom Harley only makes a comment to tell us there's a Geelong free kick.

So Lonnegan grabs Sandiland around the waste in the goal square - play on. Was a free kick every day of the week.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
