Ideal offseason

So I am trying to be as realistic as possible, but this is how I'm thinking we can trade our way into a solid outfit for next year.

1. Straight swap with Watts for Yarran, benefiting both teams giving us the leg speed and skills that we have been craving.

2. Offer Taylor Adams a heap of cash to walk into the PSD and we take him for nothing, I might be dreaming on this one.

3. Pick two for Rory Sloane (straight swap), maybe the exchange of later picks. Or pick two for David Swallow and they give us a player or a pick as a sweetener.

In conclusion we acquire Yarran, Adams and Sloane or Swallow in exchange for pick 2 and Watts.

This is without even considering a priority pick.

Demonland crashes and we all go outside to the beach!

Really good topic to take our minds off the unbelievable amount of dung hanging around AFL at the moment.

1. New President and Senior Coach

2. Get Clark and Dawes fit, for crying out loud!!!!

3. With everything we have got, get one of Sewell, Del Santo and/or Daisy Thomas. (1 experienced A grade midfielder)

4. With everything we have got, land one of Adams, Swallow, Sloane (1 young rising, potential A grade midfielder)

5. Only trade Watts/Syvlia if we get better than we are giving.

6. Big preseason for Hogan, Barry, Evans, Toumpas, Viney, Clisby, Terlich, D Kent - for the first time in a long time this list of young'ns looks capable.

7. Time to go Davey, Nicholson, Gillies, Sellar, Jetta, Bail.

8. A proud major sponsor, not some flaky nut bag like Energy Watch, or fly-by-night Opel. A company willing to promote themselves while helping to grow MFC.

Note: I hearby solemnly promise not to type the following phrases into the Demonland forum for the 2014 preseason:

elite kick

they looked really sharp

a big change from the training of Neeld

player "x" should get a game based on the training I have seen

Trengove has an injury and will not train until February

An ideal offseason for me would be for all players to be having the worst preseason of their career. For the players to be training [censored] poor on the track. For there to be nothing but negative vibes around the club, and that all players do not believe in where we are headed.

I don't want any of the players to feel a different culture with the arrival of the new coach, and that the new coach doesn't have them up and about.

Not one personal best is to be smashed this preseason, and when we go to Darwin, I want all players to suffer from heat exhaustion as soon as they land, so that they think it will mentally scar them for when they play a game up there during the season.

I also want the AFL to release a draw where we have to play Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney all 3 times, and we don't play St Kilda or GWS at all.

We have had the opposite to the above for the past 7 years and it's delivered us fcuk all, so something has to change for 2014.

Jarryd Lyons has huge upside. 21yo. Skilled. Determined.

Nicholson is timid. Weak.

That's the difference.

i really love your ambition.

But where are we going to get pick 1 from hahaha?

but nice

we will get pick 1 as a PP mate, id be shocked if we dont

Wont get pick 1. If we get a pp it will be end of round 1

why do you say that srjennings? gws have heaps of talent just need time, we need help

All I want for Xmas is for Jessie Hogan to fall in love with a Melbourne girl and they stay together for at least 10 years.

I watched Yarran on the weekend, he has speed but his supposed skill goes missing when he needs it most like when he is in front of goal. I've got no problem with Watts leaving but I want more than Yarran for him.

I just think the AFL are going to make us tough it out. We have blown way too many over the last few years. Dont get me wrong i think we do need one. The last couple of years the draft has been [censored] because of the expansion sides taking top talent. Our [censored] poor performance and list is the clubs fault due to an array of things from poor development, poor draft picks. I could go on but you know what i mean. Time will tell. I just want to see the demons put some consistant games together

Can the AFL give us PP pick 1 with the proviso that we on-trade it for current player/s?

Can the AFL give us PP pick 1 with the proviso that we on-trade it for current player/s?

The AFL can do whatever they want basically, i think we will get pick 1 because we have been shocking for 7 years, our average losing margin is 10 goals or something, we have lost by 90 plus points 6 times this year, lowest crowds i have ever seen for MFC

GWS on the other hand it's all on the up, unlike us they don't need pick 1, it'd be a nice addition as it would for any other team but all they really need is time to become a superpower of the AFL

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
