Why on earth is this bloke not our captain

He is out best player by a long way, he is a huge onfield leader, never gives up, bleeds red and blue, speaks well infront of camera, Trenners and Grimes are struggling but we know they can be considerably better.

I see no really in the world this guy should not be captain of MFC in 2014

Jack T-- slow, doesn't impose himself as captain.

Jack G-- poor decision maker, poor skills, doesn't impose himself as captain..

Nathan J-- quick, good skills, good decision maker, tries all day, DOES impose himself..

Ummm not sure.. Just anther MFC [censored] decision!! Just like getting rid of Macca and brad green!

Why the obsession with the captaincy? He is already a club leader in the leadership group. His fellow clubman didn't vote him as captain. Just get a midfield around him so he can inflict real damage. The guy is the real deal!

It's not so much that Jones should be captain, my issue is that Trengove and Grimes shouldn't be, they're both young and could still both be very good players but the right decision needs to be made now, not later.

People need to understand we only see what occurs on the field on game day. The guys is already a leader. What this club needs is a GROUP of leaders to move us forward. Putting it all down to one (or in this case two) people is wrong. Grimes has won awards due to his leadership qualities and Trengove was a leader at junior level. They have leadership qualities. The team suffers with too few being leaders. This issues is more complex than naming Jones captain,

true but they're very young, Jones is a mature age, he is our spiritual leader, i don't think there is any question Trengove and grimes are leaders, but i think Jones would be a better position to lead this rabble than two young men looking to establish themselves

You'll get shot down in flames like that bloke last year - who made a Jones for captain in 2013 thread, Demonland shot him down, LOL.

I will try and find it, pretty funny.

He has been leading by example for years now and was our only logical option for captain.

It's a joke that Trengove got anywhere near the captaincy.

I'm of the opinion that the club has forced themselves into a corner. To retract the captaincy to Grimes and Trangove could be counter active. Maybe elevate Jones and have three captains

(although I'm unsure of this too)

i disagree, Hawks changed from Mitchell to Hodge, if Jones is a better captain they can't hesitate.

Grimes was pathetic in that last quarter. Trengove has been poor for a long time. 100% agree, in fact ahead of Grimes/Trengove i'd even have also Garland and Frawley as captain candidates. Compare the way Jones and Grimes played in the final term, huge difference in attitude. We HAVE to change the captain situation. We were confident enough to kick Brad Green out of it after one season, so why not do the same with Grimes and Trengove since it clearly hasn't worked?

Any successful organisation makes changes when they have a better outcome possible, we do and we need to act

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
