MEDIA EXPLOITATION OF MFC

Recommended Posts

Spud is paid to speak for coaches. James Frawley is a highly paid footballer, and is paid to play AFL football to the best of his ability. If his coach cannot do his job to the satisfaction of the club, then he gets the sack. As for Frawley, his job is earn his packet on the field, no matter who is the coach.

Soidee, that is an extremely blinkered opinion. Frawley like all footballers share the same dreams & ambitions of supporters, to win a premiership. Unlike a lot of other careers, the window of opportunity is small. Why would frawley who has already been at the club 7 years & seen two coaches want to hang around & possibly watch another coach go through his plans for a rebuild. I think not. Also it is your opinion ( which you are entitled to ) that neeld is not doing the job he was paid to do, I for one think he is.

I don't have a problem with King making those comments if he is well informed. I heard similar talk from one or two of the people at the Melbourne Community Breakfast on Friday but when questioned about the sources, there was embarrassed silence or that the information came second or third hand from a source like the person's taxi driver.

I am bemused by those in the media and elsewhere who criticise the FD's list management at the end of 2012.

The only player dropped/traded or FA'd off who is currently getting a regular game is Beamer who hasn't set the world on fire (except against us) and who wanted out at the end of 2011 when his management approached Essendon. Sadly, this didn't come to fruition - we might have picked up someone have decent in a trade at the time. Rivers is on his last legs and injured, most of the others are no good and we know about the tragedy of Liam Jurrah.

Most of the criticism of incoming players centres around the recycled players coming in but the only one who came at any significant cost was Chris Dawes who was recruited as a forward line foil to Mitch Clark but that has yet to eventuate. He showed against Hawthorn that he can add value to the team. Byrnes was a FA who cost us nothing. Gillies was a delisted FA (ditto) while Peterson cost us Gysberts who isn't getting a game at North. Rodan cost Morton (ditto at WCE) and who was rated a #88 pick in a whacky trade. The recycled group were the equivalent of our 9th to 12th selections ahead only of the rookie picks. Neeld did explain that the likes of Byrne and Rodan were selected partly to set examples at training because of our lack of experienced players who work hard in these areas.

Shite clubs get shite spoken about them.

He may just be right, if I was Sylvia I'd leave if a decent club came along, Watts has not developed as well as we would have liked and seems to always in rumours of him not liking Neeld, and Frawley could walk into any top side. I'm sure if a club came after Frawley and he could make the club trade him he would leave.

We are a festering turd covered in flies at the moment.

I think you are holding back, tells us what you really think!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
