GAME DAY - Round 9

Jesse Hogan ring a bell?

Tomorrow Neeld has to go, a caretaker coach has to be put in and Peter Jackson has to go get us a Roos, CHoco or Clarkson.

We need a resdy made respected coach, we can not afford another rebuild.

Good point.

Sounds like Howe is giving a yelp today.

In contrast, Jamar's had 0 touches. Jetta 3, Tapscott 4, Byrnes 4, Evans 6, Nicholson 7. Players who should be getting in amongst chains of play through the middle.

HOORAY!!! JAMAR JUST HAD HIS FIRST DISPOSAL AFTER 76 MINUTES OF PLAY. WELL DONE BIG FELLA!

Jamar hasnt played a god game for three years

Mckenzie running along with two Melbourne players beside him, and he just blazes a kick into the F50 to a one on one. No idea.

Thats the game plan.

Kick long to a contest and hope we win it.

For what its worth, Howe's been superb. 20 touches, 9 marks and 2 goals

Make it 22 touches.

Jeremy Howe playing the game of his life with just about zero support

M Jones, Terlich and Magner continue to find the footy. All 3 are keepers.

Tapscott and Jetta just embarrassing

Credit where it is due...

Neil Balme (i think) about Round 10 1996 at Waverley Park i believe .... Diamond Jo met with him during half time to deliver the news (someone else may know more about this ...i was probably half plastered on the day lol but that's how i remember the call when listening on my tranny. I think it was KB calling the match)

Kevin is ugly but he is no tranny.

Terrible thing to say Dwayne Russell!

Saying that the umpires are feeling sorry for us so we are now getting a few frees.

Cannot stomach this guy.

Seems like a combination of us actually trying and Fremantle really easing off this quarter have evened the statistics. 10 inside 50s each, 3.1 to 2.4, harder running and more pressure from us.

All of it means nothing when you're 12 goals down at half time, of course.

Dwayne Russell recently said that he thought that there would be legal action by young draftees attempting to avoid coming to Melbourne!

Trenners kicks his second. We might win the quarter.

See you later Tappy. You're gone. Pathetic. Stuck by him long enough.

Jack Trengove might even crack 20 possessions.

thats a rarity.

Jeremy Howe in the ruck. Trying to do everything.

FMD. Just so sick of this crap.

Someone before was trying to use statistics to make the argument that Scott Watters was a worse coach than Neeld. Let's look at some simple math now:

1) In 2011, we won 8 and a half games. Dean Bailey was coach.

2) We take Dean Bailey away and replace him with Mark Neeld. We win 4 games.

3) There is a possibility we may win one game for the year this year.

You do the math. Are we going forward?

Jetta has been subbed out. 5 years on the list. I've finally made my mind up.

No good. Time to move him on. He simply does not impact the game enough.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
