Stop stifling dissent!

I feel subjugated!

ht9kgs.jpg

As you well know, I have no problem with debating you or anyone else about Gardner. Go ahead and start a thread about him and I will simply copy and paste some of the stuff I wrote a few years back.

I do have a problem with Schwab apologists who continue to deflect criticism and derail discussions by constantly trying to shift blame on to Gardner.

If Julia Gillard came out in the media this week and sought to blame John Howard for her handling of the mining tax, would you let her off the hook or would you see it as evidence of delusion? Same goes for Schwab apologists trying to blame Gardner.

That was for the CS thread before it was closed, LOL.

That 15 page thread had run it's course as Nasher alluded to. And the last 5 pages the so called "constructive criticism" had dwindled down to flaming, and amounted to childish squabbling with nothing else to contribute. It also led to warnings and a ban. Yeah, really funny isn't it mjt?

you really need to look at what others write...

No, you need to look at what you are responding to.

I never said "that disagreeing with [my] opinion makes one allergic to criticism of the club."

I never said that I "would prefer that everyone just shut up and agree with [me]."

Don't you see the irony in your post?

I am not trying to stifle debate, I am trying to encourage it - that was the reason I posted in this thread in the first place.

You still seem to fail to understand this.

You say that you are receiving "a lot" of complaints from forum users (none of which I have read outside this thread) about there being several different threads that are critical of the club.

There are many different areas of the club of interest to Melbourne supporters, and different aspects of these areas, that are worthy of discussion, analysis and, yes, criticism.

I realise that Demonland is not a democracy, but allow me to complain about how threads offering criticism often seem to get locked or, more recently, merged into almost unreadable "mega-threads" which discourage quality discussion and become nearly impossible to keep relevant.

I can't help but think that this policy has less to do with the complaints of "a lot" of forum users who are too sensitive to handle more than one critical thread at a time and more to do with the views of a very few contributors who appear view criticism of our club as a blight on their rose-tinted landscapes and prefer to have it swept under the carpet.

Nah

A lot of rubbish threads offering nothing being created. It's ok to be angry and we have good reason, but a lot of the crap threads that have been started are just rants.

Pot, kettle, black.

If you took notice, WJ explained his decision. He doesn't owe you anything more.

He offered a weak, anecdotal defence of the part about other people's opinions on the matter. He did not address the substance of my concerns.

I expect better more from a mod than WJ's continual flouting of the code of conduct regarding personal attacks.

I also expect more from an an intelligent person of integrity than WJ's continual squibbing of the contest in thread after thread.

Back off the mod bashing Hazy. This is your last warning or you will be banned.

I am always mentioning that the previous board is brought up too often by people as the cause of all our issues but you shouldn't sit there accusing others of deflection and obsfucation when there is no criticism of the previous board that sticks according to you.

The best debaters I have come accross always mention what the limits of their own argument is. Nothing is black and white in this wonderful world. A critical mind should leave some time for self-reflection and not the self-absolution that you constantly give the previous board.

Schwab may be removed, the board may be challenged and voted out, but that does not mean that like Gardner and his board, that they were anything but Demons trying to do the best they can for their club.

This club is too small to be as fractured as it is - we await the rest of the season and the time for decision on our immediate future based on that evidence.

All of that to be discussed right here on Demonland, where the discussion is respectful but tough and the views are wide ranging and deeply felt.

It is also moderated by Demons who want nothing more than what's best for the Demons.

That is also my first warning.

I would like to know if WJ has received a similar warning about his last two posts and if not, why not.

Hazy,

In my post of 4.46pm I made a decision about the issue of the moderation on this thread and asked for no further correspondence.

WJ has respected that but you continue to flame, inflame and criticise him and others.

You really leave me no choice but to say farewell to you until this time next month.

See ya

Leading by example again I see.

Try to keep you eyes on the ball for once.

Well go and start and manage and finance your own website HSG if you don't like it.

It's a free world esp on the internet.

Hazy, do you know Stuie? Very similar laid back demeanour the two of you. You don't take offence and don't seem to hunt down those ho have caused irreparable damage to your sensibilities.

When I spoke to Colin Sylvia today I asked him about toughening up the players and he told me that they did not do the boxing training anymore. He did not seem that enthusiastic about being at training either. I think Colin will leave if he gets another offer elsewhere. Maybe Neeld is concentrating too much on the game plan and not enough on the mental side of the game.

Maloney used to virtually run the boxing down Anglesea ( Geelong Coast anyway ). You may be right but at some point the players have to adjust their mental attitude as a collective.

They (seem to) do a lot of wrestling - which I would have thought was more useful and relative, while still being suitably combative.

Whats your beef, if you decide to close a thread thats your decision, i couldnt care less, i wasnt flaming, or like stuie posting 70 times a day.

Take it up with Locomotive Engineer Lyon - he is the one saying that our club resembles a train wreck.

Dismissive and rude to a very conciliatory post.

You are a very inauthentic personality.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
