Spoke on MMM

Rather than play stupid games and see who can grow the longest beard, how about train? They are a shambles," he said on Triple M.

"If I was Mark Neeld I'd say to the conditioning guy, 'I don't give a crap (about recovery)'.

"I'd get 'em up at 4.30am (on Monday morning) and give them a 10km time-trial and then a swim afterwards.

"Actually, a 10km time-trial, then make them watch this game (as punishment).

"They dress like AFL footballers, look like AFL footballers, but don't play anything like one.
I've never been as disappointed in a team."

That is one of the best comments I've heard about this game. The old fashioned "[censored] em on the track" days are gone unfortunately, which is a shame it would be good to see them test the elite fitness they're meant to have.

It's that last comment that is the most honest truth I have heard from any commentator about our club. They look like AFL footballers but don't play anything like one and the word disappointed for me is the worst word in the world. If someone is disappointed in you, you should feel like crap!

This is the reason I love Carey as a footy commentator (though his recreational activities outside business hours are somewhat questionable). He cuts straight to the chase, what he says is borne of experience and he says it with authority. Today was as disgusting a performance as I have seen. I have said my piece about my plans for the next little bit. The reasons why I have come to this conclusion are basically the same reasons why Carey was as disgusted with us as he was today.

North were getting flogged a couple of years ago. When they won they played ok but when they lost it was always massive margins. Brad Scott started to [censored] the players with boxing sessions and full training sessions the next day. Gotta [censored] em. Shave the beards, learn to hit a target and grow a pair.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
