It's off the hands through for a behind

Thanks very much from those of us overseas who have no access other than whats on here. This site is normally hopeless for scores, so thanks for reversing the trend.

Big Russian Jamar flies high ... but ball spills out of bounds. Almost 20 mins gone. Melb 23 to St K 2.

Tapscott pressure forced a Sam Gilbert kick on full

Nathan Jones gives away 50m. Terry Milera will kick for goal in goalsquare

2:54

St Kilda's first for match. Melbourne 1.2.2 (23) to St Kilda 0.1.2 (8)

Sylvia soccered ball out of ball up forward ... then siren sounds

Have we been getting hammered in the free kicks throughout this NAB cup?

Both sets of teams hit the sheds at the break due to heat

2:59
Plenty

of good signs in the first term. Rodan, Nicholson and Sylvia were busy

and showed encouraging form. Dunn's work out of defence and into attack

was also positive. His barrel literally went into the centre square. It

was a beauty to watch!

2:59
Shannon Byrnes' opening goal was also classy.
3:03
There is a bit of wind here at Casey ... we'll be kicking into it in the second term.
3:06
Second quarter under way - Dees up by 15 pts.
3:07
St Kilda kick the first goal of the second term. Melb 23 to St K 14.

How are our structures looking???

David Rodan, Cam Pedersen, Nathan Jones leading the way in Dream Team points (with 5,5 and 6 touches respectively)

3:08

Gilbert adds a behind. Now eight points in it.

3:09

Garland cuts off a ball thrust into the forward line by the Saints. Good work by Col

3:10

Macdonald runs the ball out of defence

3:11

Frawley chips a clever kick to Macdonald out of defence ... ends up in the
hands of Hogan, who snaps from the pocket, but just misses for a behind

3:15
Frawley in the hands of the trainers ... now jogging off
3:16

Milera handballs to Riewoldt in the goalsquare ... he kicks a goal. Scores are level at Casey Fields.

St k 1 4 7 40pts

Melb 1 2 4 25

12:24 secnod quarter

No excuse. Should have made more of the breeze when we had it if that is the case.

Jones 50m penalty to give away a goal was v costly.

Disposals 1st 1/4 apparently 72 Saints 59 us..

That's a big concern to me. We're still getting killed in the possie count.

Smh..... Should have stop watching while I had the chance....

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
